"-- man. I'm telling you." Connor sighed rolling his green apple eyes to look at me.

"So Fiji was a winner?" I asked nursing the coffee I had ordered but had no intentions of drinking.

"Have you ever been?" He asked making me shake my head. "Oh the beaches are beautiful. Clean, real clean. The sand, it's pure white and the water is the clearest I've ever seen! The native people who live on there are such lovely people as well!"

I smiled "Perhaps I should go some time."

"Perhaps you should. I think you'd enjoy it." He smiled.

Connor, what a pleasant and unexpected distraction from Zak. His charm and ability to make me laugh had warmed my heart. And for the past week we had been meeting up on the odd occasions for coffee or lunch.

I had no intentions on using Connor, none at all, I really enjoyed his company and I think he enjoyed mine too, the added bonus was that I was no longer moping around in my apartment. I was out in the world again, living, breathing, hell even planning on what to do with myself.

My main focus was to move away from the subject of one man who's just about to become my boss. If things were going to work on the show, it had to be a clean cut work relationship and not one tainted by a few fumbles and heated moments of passion. No. We had to be professional. So distance was key.

Connor's hair was fixed with a little wax, but unknowingly he had missed one small clump which stuck out in his brown hair. A small clump I had been staring out trying to work myself up to remove it for him. Without making myself look desperate.

"You look lovely." He spoke making my eyes leave the small clump.

"I- thank you." I stuttered looking at my attire. "I didn't really know what to wear, so I went with this."

"Well, you look beautiful."

My skin flushed this time and I looked away with a nervous laugh tickling my throat. If only he knew how many times I had changed before telling myself that time wouldn't slow down and I was going to be late if I didn't find something.

The rest of my wardrobe was thrown across my bed. I had chosen a floral skater dress and black ankle boots, topped with my black leather jacket to give it some edge.

"Thank you." I finally replied looking back to him as he nursed his cup.

His eyes flicked up sensing my stares "I've noticed you don't drink your coffee."

The statement took me by slight surprise but not as much as the intensity of his eyes. With my brain slightly muddled I fiddled with the cup until I settled it firmly between my palms to keep it steady.

"I'm not a real coffee drinker.. In fact I don't really like coffee at all." I admitted causing him to sit back aghast.

"Well why didn't you say? We could have gone elsewhere, I am so sorry. I shouldn't have presumed-" he fussed until I held up my hand stopping him.

"Connor it's fine. Besides, I didn't come here for the coffee did I? I came because I was meeting you." My answer caused his shoulders to relax slightly.

"Well I guess, but that's not the point. We could have got something else.."

He soon dropped the subject and resumed back to his coffee when out of nowhere my hand had a mind of its own and plucked the wax out before transferring it to a napkin left on the table.

"Thanks. Did you sort things with your partner? Zak? Was it Zak?" He asked me before asking himself.

"It's Zak." I confirmed.
