People began to arrive.

One by one, they filtered into the pack house, ready to dance and make out all night long.

Harley and Noah arrived seconds ago, and waved me over.

"There you two are!" I gave Harley and Noah a hug.

"You look fantastic!" Harley commented.

"Thank you, you look amazing as well," I gestured to her bright red dress. She looked stunning.

"Thanks! Noah, you know Noelle, right?" She asked. I took note of how he had his hand interlocked with hers. I eyed their hands then looked back at Harley. She smiled at me and nodded as if reading my thoughts.

They were mates.

"Yes, I've known her since grade school," he replied. I smiled, happy for the both of them.

"Yes, we've known each other for awhile. Listen, I'm going to go catch up with some people, so I'll just leave you two lovebirds," I teased and sashayed away.

I heard Noah's chuckle and it brought a smile to my face. I'm glad they're both happy.

I went for the bar and ran into Josie. She was Harley and I's other friend.

"Noelle! It's nice finally seeing you," She said as she gave me a hug. I nodded and returned her smile.

"I know, I've been busy with jobs and studying. College isn't exactly as easy as I thought," I admitted.

"You don't have to tell me twice. I thought I would get to party more, but in all honesty I'm studying five out of seven nights a week, and then having to work and still expect to do well in my classes," she explained.

It was my third year in college, and it wasn't a piece of cake. Josie and I were the only two who chose to go to college. Most of the pack are able to find jobs for other alphas, but Josie and I wanted to make something of ourselves.

"I wish I could party more," I shouted over the music.

"Did you hear about the Alpha and the Beta? I heard that they're extremely hot and extremely single!" She winked. I laughed and grabbed a martini off of the bar.

"So I'm guessing you're looking to score?" I hinted. She nodded with a smirk on her face.

"You can bet on that!" She exclaimed. I took a small sip of my drink and watched as her gaze fell on someone behind me.

I turned around and saw who must have been the Beta. He was hot. His blonde hair and brown eyes could draw anyone in.

He definitely spent hours upon hours at the gym, and Josie liked what she saw.

She set her drink down and confidently approached him. He faces her, and I saw his eyes darken. Even over the loud music, I could hear his growl.

The Beta found his mate.

He brought his nose to her neck and held her there. Males love the scent of their mate.

I felt a smile make it's way onto my face. They were perfect together.

Then, a scent hit me.

It was strong enough to almost make me drop my drink and run towards it. I gently placed my drink on the bar before following the smell.

Pine and fresh rain.

Almost a woodsy scent.

I followed the scent all the way to the Alpha's office. I knocked on the door and waited.

Alpha Declan opened the door, and seemed surprised to see me.

"Noelle? Is there something I can help you with?" He asked.

I was about to speak, but a loud growl stopped me.

Alpha Declan moved out of the way, and then my eyes met emerald ones.

"Mine," a muscly and tall man growled. I couldn't move. He was beautiful. If the Beta spent hours at the gym, this man spent days at the gym. Hell, he probably lived there.

He had hair as black as the night, and he was easily a foot taller than I.

My feet carried me to him, and instantly he placed his hand in mine, and his other cupped my cheek.

"Beautiful," he whispered.

I nuzzled into his hand and gazed up at him.

I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with him.

"What's your name?" He asked.

"Noelle. What's yours?" I asked timidly.

"Daniel Lincoln, Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack," he introduced. I couldn't move.

I felt as if I were too high on him. I couldn't get enough of the feeling he was supplying.

Safety.

Warmth.

Love.

I felt all of these feelings wrap around me.

"Love, can I meet your parents?" He asked.

"Yes, they're in the living room," I explained and held his hand in mine as I led him to my parents.

This was finally happening.

The event that my parents had been dreaming about was finally here. My mate was here, and he accepted me. My wolf howled in joy at his acceptance. He was ours as we were his.

"Mom, dad, this is Daniel. My mate," I said with pride. My parents looked at him and beamed.

Daniel stuck his hand out and shook hands with both of them.

"It's nice to meet you," he said while pulling his hand away.

"Oh, the pleasure is all ours. We're very excited to hear that Noelle has found her mate," my mother said with a smile.

I sent her a happy smile as well. Once I found Harley I would tell her too. Daniel was my mate.

"I would have to agree. I've been searching for my mate over six years. It's quite extraordinary that I found her," he looked down at me with a look I couldn't read.

It made me furrow my eyebrows because I wasn't sure if he felt happy or disappointed. For some reason, I read it as disappointment, but I knew that wasn't right. He was proud to have me, right?

"As a matter of fact, I would love to take her to my home, tonight," he added. My parents looked at each other, then at me.

"Well it's up to you, sweetie, we don't mind," my father said. I nodded and looked up at Daniel.

"I would love to come home with you," I assured him. He smiled down at me once I spoke.

"Alright. We'll come by tomorrow to pick up your things," he informed me. I nodded and leaned into his chest.

It was normal for the females to go with their males. The males normally had duties at their other pack, and being separated wasn't an option. I shrugged off the idea of him being disappointed with me. Why would he be disappointed with me? It's not like I've done anything for him to disapprove.

"Come on, love," he gently pulled me with him. I waved at my parents and happily followed Daniel. As soon as we were outside, it was as if an ominous mood had settled.

Something was wrong.
