Getting back to the apartment Kaine walks into Seth already on the couch waiting for him "Kaine-" he says Kaine name 

But Kaine puts his hand out to stop him "don't" he says then walks into his room shutting the door. In his room, Kaine removes his sweater and sneakers, grabs his laptop and lays in bed plugging his earbuds in blasting HAIM  one of his favorite band.

Seth sits on the couch wondering where he went wrong, Kaine makes him feel different, a way not even Cathy could make him feel. Kaine makes him feel equal like he actually matters, Kaine gives him importance and he ruined what might have been the best thing that happened to him because he was too shallow to see it. As he sits there pondering Emma approaches the door knocking, Seth gets up and answers

"Emma, hey" he greets

"What's up what's up? Kaine home?"

"Yeah" Seth points to Kaine's room and Emma makes her way to it.

She knocks on his door but he doesn't answer so she enters to Kaine listening to music "Em?" he says as she walks in and shuts the door

"I called a million times" she sits across from him

"Oh sorry I was out for a run with Ryan"

"What about him out there?"

"I ended it with Seth yesterday..."

"Wait seriously?" 

"Yeah, he showed that he was never going to choose me. You were right he was using me" Kaine says back trying to not let it bother him

"I wish I wasn't right, but you're still in love with him?"

"I am completely in love with him, I can't get over that in one day. It's going to be hard being around him and not be able to touch him but I've got Ryan and he's second best"

Emma shakes her head in disagreement "I don't think you should be stringing Ryan along like this, he's like a rebound"

"He can't be a rebound if Seth and I were never actually together"

"But in your mind, you two were together"

"Whatever I just know that Ryan's my now and Seth's my mistake"

"You're not thinking right" Emma looks away. She knows that Kaine wouldn't just get over Seth like this and in the long run Ryan would be the one getting hurt.

After Emma leave, Kaine thinks about what she meant by he was not thinking right, he was sure that he was doing the right thing. Ryan is the right thing... right? Kaine stays in his room the rest of the day avoiding any contact with Seth.

Sunday morning Kaine was in deep sleep when his phone suddenly starts ringing which wakes him up, it was his mother "ma what is it?"

"What? I don't hear from my son for a month and the first thing he says to me is what is it? how about hi mom, I miss you mom"

Kaine rolls his eyes "hi mom, I miss you mom" he mocks

"I miss you too sweetie"

"How's Piper?"

"She's great, she finally started eating without me having to force her" she answers eagerly. Piper is Kaine's adopted little sister that his mother adopted a year ago because she missed him so much and she wanted another child but she didn't want to wait. Piper is 4

"That's great ma, I gotta go ok I need sleep"

"Don't even want to talk to your own mother anymore, but that's fine"

"You're so overdramatic, I'll call you later ok?"

"Fine, say hi to Seth for me" Kaine paused at Seth's name

"Fine, ok bye" he hangs up and lays his head back on the pillow. after a few hours, Kaine fully wakes up to the sound of Seth and Cathy yelling at each other, being nosy Kaine gets up and opens his door "trouble in paradise?" they both stop and stares at him

Cathy says "mind your business"

"Don't talk to him like that!" Seth yells which catch both Kaine and Cathy by surprise. All three of them stand there in silence until Cathy breaks it

"Forget it, Seth, screw you!" she yells grabbing her bag and heading to the door then angrily slamming it

"The shit I have to deal with," Seth says smiling but Kaine just scoffs

"Your problem" Kaine walks away heading to the bathroom Seth follows

"Wanna hang later? we could watch tv, or play pool or-"

"Stop Seth..." Kaine cuts him off "stop acting like everything's ok, I meant it when I said I was done with you" without another word Seth sadly walks away.
