Kate's POV

The rest of the day went by slow, everywhere I turned Henry was there. After 7th period I went to my locker to grab my things. I loaded my backpack down with all my books and folders, I had a paper to write in English, I chose my brother because out of everyone he's been there for me my whole life. Belch might seem like the biggest dumbass bully, but he's actually considerate and listens.

My locker slammed and I jumped, I turned to look to see who it was, it was Henry with a smug look on his face. What is with this kid? He's in 4 of my classes, he's an asshole, and he's everywhere I turn. Honestly he kind of scared me, all day I've heard rumors about them. "Can I help you?" I looked up at him nervously. He looked down and rolled his eyes, "I was just going to tell you, don't bother staying after school tomorrow, I won't be there." "Um okay? Whatever" I shook my head, what an asshole. "What is your problem?" He huffed and leaned against the lockers, "really? What's my problem? I could ask you the same, one minute you're nice, the next you're an ass. Dude, you don't even know me, so just leave me alone and go on about your day" I spoke turning to zip my bag up.

His eyes were dark as he glared through me. "Listen princess I wouldn't get so cocky if I were you, you don't know me either, you don't know what I can do. I can make your life living hell." He stepped closer as he spoke. "On second thought, show up tomorrow. If you don't I'll find you, and you'll just see what I can do".

I nodded slowly, "good. Don't be late princess" he spoke as he walked downstairs to Belch's car. I walked out of school and began walking home. While walking I thought to myself what am I going to do about Henry. If I stay after school, he'll torture me to death, if I don't he'll find me and torture me to death. It's a lose-lose situation, I'm in some deep shit here.

I got home and Belch's car was already in the driveway. I opened the door and kicked off my shoes. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of coke, my grandmother was on the phone and she sounded worried. I'm guessing it had something to do with the diner. You see they own the diner in town, they needed extra money after they both retired.

My grandma use to be my homeschool teacher, but after not being able to pay bills she started working at the diner, then one day the owners had to sell for unknown reasons and my grandparents bought it. Now they're struggling to find people to work in the diner because they either quit or something happens.

As I heard how stressed my grandmother was on the phone, I couldn't help but feel like I should do something. After she hung up she stood again the counter, her elbows propped up and head in her hands. I could tell she was really stressed. "Hey grandma" I spoke with sorrow. "Oh hi sweetie, I didn't hear you come in. How was school?" She said as she smiled faintly, the look on her face said she was really upset, but she still asked how I was. She always done that, even at the worst times when she was stressed, aggravated, sick, or anything. She would still ask me how I am, and push all her problems to the side.

"It was.... okay. Hard to get back into the swing of things, hah" "don't worry sweetie, I'm sure you'll get use to it" she smiled as she touched my cheek.

She started to walk away but I stopped her. "Um grandma, I couldn't help but overhear you on the phone. And I know you're having a lot of trouble with the diner, and I couldn't help but think maybe I should do something-" she cut me off  "Honey don't worry about that ole diner, you should be out with friends, and worry about boys" oh believe me I am... "I got everything covered okay?" "Well I was thinking maybe I could work at the diner after school for free until you find someone" she pondered on it for moment. "Okay, that sounds great. Thank you honey." "No problem, after everything you've done for Reg and I, it's the least I could do. Oh on Tuesdays and Thursdays I'll be late after school." "Oh that's okay, but may I ask why?" She said confused. "I have to tutor one of Reggie's dumb friends" I said rolling my eyes.

Belch came in from the living room, "whats this I hear about you tutoring? Who are you tutoring? Do they know you're my sister?" He kept asking so many questions. "Your friend Henry. No he doesn't know, I plan on keeping it that way unless he tries to get handsy" he grimaced at the thought, "Well he better not say anything, or touch you, or I'll kick his-" "language Reginald" our grandmother cut him off. "-butt, I was gonna say butt. Anyways if anything happens you come straight to me, got it?" He said pointing at me all serious like, "yeah yeah, I got it."

The rest of the night Belch and I watched Happy Days, one of our favorite shows. Belch loved The Fonz and how cool he was. He asked me how my day was and apologized for how awkward everything was, and how dumb Patrick is. I got out my homework and began to work on my English paper. My brother and I continued to talk and watch tv as I worked on it. It's times like this that make me really appreciate my brother, he may be a jerk with his friends, but with me he's still the same old Reggie. I know that no matter what I can always count on him and he'll always be my protector.
