When I Don't Remember You (Simon X Reader)

Chapter 4: Changing

Simon looked at the crown with a prideful smirk then faced you. "So what do you think Y/N?" He asked. A feeling of dread overcame you. Maybe getting a crown from a random seller isn't the best idea. "It's great..." You trailed off. "Look Y/N! I'm a king!" Simon joked as he put on the crown. Your laughter turned into fear as he gave you the most lifeless stare.

Simon's hands bolted to his sides, his eyes not leaving yours. Suddenly he belted out the most ear piercing cackle you had ever heard. The deafening sound tore through the busy airport like a dagger and all cowered in fear. You slowly backed away from him, muttering his name.

Simon started to follow you while worried passengers backed away from the scene. You turned in the other direction and ran out of the building, hearing Simon's insane cackling and screaming from inside. What happened to him? You wondered. Whatever it was, you needed to get that crown off.

Simon had finally gotten closer to you. He screamed "Where's my Y/N?!" and "Where's my princess?!" over and over again. Cries of terrified citizens echoed through the city streets as your insane Simon backed you into a corner. His maniacal laughter got louder as you couldn't move back any farther, and then he stopped. Simon yanked the crown off his head and looked at you with scared eyes.

Your eyes clouded up, nearly blinded with tears and fear. "Y/N, what did I do? Are you hurt?" Simon asked.
"What did you do?! You terrorized the town Simon!" You managed to say before bursting into tears. Simon pulled you closer to him, trying to calm you down. "Whatever I did, the crown had caused it. I've never seen visions like that before." He sighed.

"I'm sorry."

He let go of you and faced the townsfolk. They stared at him with fear and hatred. Simon grabbed your hand and ran, taking you with him.

Simon eventually stopped at a house that you assumed was his. He opened the door. "Get in. No time to explain." He led you inside and sat you down. In the year you've been together, Simon had never showed you his house. Strange artifacts filled every shelf. There was something new and unique everywhere you looked. Simon cleared his throat to gain your attention. "I... I need to film something real quick." He stuttered.

He began introducing himself and mentioned you, making you slightly blush. Simon talked about what he had seen during the time he wore the crown, then stopped the video. He thanked you. "Simon, why did you bring me here?" You decided to ask. Simon sighed sadly.

"Y/N, I can already feel myself changing. This crown is something I have never dealt with before, and I'm not sure what will happen with it. I may start changing soon, and I'm going to record myself whenever it does. Just remember, princess, if I do anything bad... if I hurt you or anyone else... know that I still love you."

Simon kissed you on the cheek. In the corner of your eye you noticed a picture of you placed on his desk. You smiled at it. "Simon, I understand. Whatever happens to you, I'll stick with you no matter what." You said.

Over time, Simon changed more and more. His skin had turned blue and his hair turned white. He no longer looked like the man you loved. Every time you visited Simon, you noticed more pictures of you appearing around his place. The words 'DONT FORGET' were always written next to it. It snowed almost every day.

The words 'War is Near' appeared in almost every newspaper article. An airplane or aircraft was always in the sky. Everything had turned into a living nightmare. Was this the end of the world?

Then, something horrible went down.

You were at Simon's place watching over him when a scream echoed around the town. Then, an earth shattering crash. The last thing you saw was a big flash of light, and Simon leaning over you. You blacked out, and then it hit you.

The Mushroom War had begun.
