Danny felt like there was nothing. Just nothing. There was no point, nothing to stand for. No hope. Funny word. Seems like an inside joke once you've given up.

"Come on, Danny! Have hope!" Tucker had once told him, Danny snorted. It took his friends by surprise. "What's funny?"

"Nothing." Danny said. It was the week before they died, and Danny had long since given in. His hair was never touched to even tried to be tame, his eyes having bags under them, his eyes glowing an inhumane ice blue, his voice having a dry, ghostly echo. He found anything funny, and never gave a true smile. That's what battle does to you. Whether it be in the mind, whether it be in the body, or whether it be around you.

The lonely ones have the most friends, and have the biggest smiles.

The broken ones are the ones most held together.

The ones with scars, lie about them.

The ones who have seen the world for what it really is loose their minds.

Danny had lived through it. It's not like he had a choice. He was forced on the line of life and death and not able to do either. Danny gave a dry laugh.

He was getting things out of his locker, and he really didn't care anymore. Dash shoved him to the locker next to him. "He, twerp." Dash growls.

Danny smirked, and a blue mist left his mouth. "You know what I'm sick of, Dash? You. It's pathetic. I could have you ten feet under in nine seconds, yet you push my borders."

He easily pushed Dash's arm away, and started circling him. "It's funny. If it had been three months ago I wouldn't do this. If things turned out different things like this might not be happening, but look at us now." Danny smiled cruelly, fangs showing and blue mist floating from the edges.

"It's funny. You really don't care once you give in to the ghostly side of you. Once you give up. One you realize, there's nothing to save in this town. So why protect it?" Rings formed around his waist, changing him into the town hero. "See who've you've been hurting for the past three years, Dash? See who've you pushed past the line."

Time froze, and Clockwork frowned. Things were not supposed to end up like this. He went through time, and noticed. Danny had been giving in. Always. He had seen everything. Death, pain, torture, death. He had laughed in the face of fear.

Danny unfroze. "Danneiel, I have to tell you. No matter how hard it seems, there will always be hope." Hope is a strange word. A word that stands for a hollow form what builds someone. That hope could shatter like glass, leaving everything to fall.
