(Oliver's pov)

It's been almost a month since I woke up, and I still couldn't believe what I was looking at right now. For some reason, during my little slumber, my eyes have changed color. I used to have my mother's beautiful blue eyes, but now, now they were bright orange, like the freshly fallen leaves that you'd find on a brisk autumn morning. My eyes seemed to glow.

Lucas had explained to me that with me being a hybrid child, half vampire, half demon, that things like this could happen. He also mentioned something about a different side to me being dormant for so long. If I was being honest, I still couldn't believe I was a hybrid.

According to Lucas, we were extremely rare, but it does happen more than people think. He said some races can reproduce without issues while some can't. He said it's basically just the luck of the draw.

I always thought that I was a pure-blooded vampire. I never really had any reason to think otherwise. My demon side has never shown itself, so why would I think I was a hybrid? Sighing, I moved away from the mirror, walking over to my bed as I fell back into it.

I've been trying desperately to push all of these thoughts to the back of my mind, but there was one thing, well, more like one person who kept making their way back to the front.

"Oliver, are you in there?" Chelsea asked as she knocked on my bedroom door.

"Come in," I said as the door opened.

"Are you busy?" she asked.

"Not at the moment. Why?" I asked, giving her a questioning look.

"I need to talk to you."

"About?"

"I think I'm in love," she said.

"Oh?" I asked.

"His name is Benjamin."

"Benjamin?"

"Yes, he's just so nice and caring. I don't think I've ever met anyone like him before, and he's -,"

"Wait, wait, wait," I said, interrupting her rambling.

"What?" she asked

"You said Benjamin, as in my older brother Benjamin?" I asked, causing her to give me a confused look.

"Your older brother?"

"Hm?"

"You just said you're older brother," she said.

"N-No I didn't."

"Yes, you did. What are you hiding from me?" She said, propping her hands on her hips.

"Nothing."

"Liar, what is it?"

I bit my lip as I stared at her. I can't believe I let that slip. Lucas told us not to say anything, hell I don't even know if he's told my mother yet.

"Olly, what is it? You know you can trust me," she said, moving closer to me.

"I really shouldn't say anything, Chelsea," I said.

"Well, you kinda already did though," she said.

She's not wrong there, I thought as I sighed.

"You have to swear to me you won't say anything."

"I swear," she said as she held her pinky out to me.

"Really? Where not kids anymore, Chels," I said, smiling.

"And?"

I couldn't help but laugh as I wrapped my pinky around her. When we were kids, we took our pinky promises to heart.

"So, you and Benjamin are brothers?" She asked.

"Yeah, he's my older brother."

"But isn't Lucas his father?"

"He is. We're half brothers. Same mother, but different fathers."

"Wow, really?"

"I didn't find out until I was about twelve or so. Benjamin let it slip one night," I said.

"I guess it's a little weird then."

"I've gotten used to the fact that I have a brother now."

"Not that," Chelsea said, laughing.

"What do you mean, then?" I asked.

She walked over to where I was at, sitting next to me on the bed.

"Well as of a few minutes ago, I barged in here proclaiming my love to a man that I now know is you brother."

"Oh," I said.

"Well, if he has to be with anyone, then I prefer it to be you, and vice versa. Benjamin's a good guy, a little rough around the edges but we all come with baggage to a certain degree, so just be a little patient with him, he's not good at showing or expressing his emotions," I said as she laid down next to me.

I turned onto my side so that I could see her better.

"It's not going to bother you if say we do get together?" She asked, looking a little nervous about what my response might be.

I couldn't help but smile at her. She must be really smitten with him for her to be acting this way.

"It won't bother me."

"Can I ask you something, Oliver?"

"Of course anything."

"Have you ever been in love before?" She asked, causing me to tense.

"What?" I asked.

"Well, it's just you've been gone for so long, and we missed so much of each others' lives. For all I know, you could've fallen in love and had kids or something by now," she said.

"I can reassure you that I don't have any children out there," I said.

"What about the other?"

I hummed out, thinking it over.

"I have," I said.

"Who was it, if you don't mind me asking?"

"His name is Samuel," I said.

"He?"

I bit my lip as panicked soured through me.

"Yes he," I confirmed.

The room fell into silence. My stomach was in knots as I waited for her to say something, anything.

"Do you hate me now?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"Of course not, Olly. It just kind of caught me by surprise. I never knew you were interested in men before."

"So, who is this Samuel guy?" she asked.

"He was this guy, well, more like a boy who was staying at Lucas's castle. He had been kidnapped, the same as me."

"Was?" she asked

"He just went missing one day. Lucas tried his hardest to find him, but no one ever did," I said, my heart aching as I continued to talk about him.

"Do you think maybe he ran away?"

"No."

"How can you be so sure?" she asked.

"Because."

"Just because," I said, my voice light but shaky.

Samuel promised me that if he ever found a way out of that place, he'd take me with him, that or he'd come back for me. Samuel never would've lied to me, that much I can say about him.

"I didn't mean to make you cry, Olly," Chelsea said as she wiped away tears that I didn't know had fallen.

"I'm sorry," I said.

"Don't be, I shouldn't have brought it up," she said, as she wrapped me in a tight embrace.

"I miss him so much," I cried out as I clung to her.

It felt good, in a way, to finally cry, I mean. The more I cried, the more I could feel my body relaxing. I felt like a weight was finally being lifted off of me.
