Diaspora Sorrow

To know about my heritage and the people that came before me
To know the names of kings lived
Not died
To know the names of queens not kidnapped
But safe in the beds of mother
Untained and untamed
By patriarchal persistance
colonial suppression
Pillaging
And privilege
To know the names of civilizations lost
To greed
And rape
Of sacred
Lanuguge
Traditions
Spirituality
A People
Now we are scattered across our own lands
Missing puzzle pieces
Of hidden history
I cry from the rain
To know who came before
To know who came before me…
