Chapter 10

Lizas pov:

I walk into school for the last time this week and see Gabbie across the hallway.
I quicken my pace to get to her and a black figure crashes into me making me drop my bag.
Liza: watch where you're going
David: always blaming someone else, classic koshy
He said it with coldness in his voice I shot my head up to look at him.
Liza: you're just as bad as your parents Dobrik
I roll my eyes and walk away. Why was he being so cold with me? What have I done wrong?
I finally reach Gabbie.
Gabbie: hey what happened
Liza: he crashed into me and said that I'm a 'classic koshy'
Gabbie: I thought you two were getting along
Liza: me too
Gabbie: don't get upset about it L
My head swings round to look at her as she calls me L.
Gabbie: what?
That's why he's angry, Brennen!
I turn back to look at David but he's gone.
Gabbie: come on, time for class
Liza: hang on
Gabbie: what's wrong?
I speed back up the hall and Gabbie goes to class. I catch a glance of David's brown hair and follow behind him.
Liza: Dobrik!
He spins round to look at me and I see him roll his eyes.
David: what koshy?
I stare at Alex and Todd behind him and they back off into their classes.
Liza: what is wrong with you?
David: what are you talking about?
Liza: first you storm out of zanes, then you ignore all my messages, now you push me and say shit about my family
David: I'm sorry I'm just...
Liza: jealous?
David: what are you talking about?
Liza: Brennen
David averts his eyes from me
Liza: so I'm right
David: alright maybe you are
Liza: I told you, you don't have to worry about Brennen
David: yes I do
Liza: no you don't
David: L I do, you can't even talk to me when other people are around, you can't even look at me without people noticing, I don't want you to defy your parents-
Liza: what are you trying to say David? Do you want to end this?
David: no of course not! I just wish I didn't have such a competition with Brennen and I can't even tell him you're already mine
Liza: and I wish I could tell girls you're mine too but if we want to last as long as we hope then we can't
David: what about Brennen?
Liza: like I said, you don't ever have to worry about anyone coming between us
We edge towards eachother
David: look at us, I can't even hold onto you
Liza: yes you can
I pull myself towards him and he hesitantly wraps his arms around my waist
David: what if people see?
Liza: they're all in lesson
A smile lands on his lips and a sparkle in his eyes.
David: I love you koshy
Liza: I love you too Dobrik
We peck on the lips and pull away to go to lessons.

Timelapse: end of school

David's pov:

I stood with Zane because he wanted to wait for Gabbie. Gabbie finally walked out so I said goodbye to the two and headed for my car.
??: oi Dobrik!
I spun round and met eyes with someone I hoped I'd never see again. Brennen.
David: what's up
Brennen: aren't you friends with that koshy girl?
David: not really, our family's hate eachother
Brennen: ah cool man, I was honking about asking her on a date, thought you would know if she was single or nah
My eyes widened at the word 'date'
David: uh I don't think she is single
Brennen: who's she with?
David: not sure, but there is definitely a guy
He started to say something else but I couldn't hear because I had already gotten into my car and driven away.

Lizas pov:
I walked out to the parking lot and saw David's Tesla speed away, I turned round and saw Brennen looking down at me.
Liza: oh hey
Brennen: just wondering, do you have a boyfriend
Liza: uh nope
I hated to say that, I felt like I was cheating on David just by saying no. Not that he is officially my boyfriend
Brennen: that Dobrik thought you did
That's why he sped away so quickly!
Brennen: so if there is no guy how about we go on a date Saturday night?
Liza: I would love to
No I wouldn't
Liza: but there is a guy, he may not be my boyfriend but...
Brennen: oh I see, don't worry about it then
Liza: sorry
He just nodded his head and walked away to his friends.
Rachel finally pulls up and I quickly climb in and drive back home.
Rachel: who's that guy you were talking to?
Liza: his names Brennen
Rachel: oooh, so you've gone off the Dobriks
Liza: I told you I was never with him
Rachel: my friend Izzy said otherwise, how could you even sit next to him
Liza: that's none of your business and I don't appreciate your friend dragging me across the cafeteria
Rachel: I don't appreciate you taking to a Dobrik!
Liza: it was the only seat left!
We finally got home and both stormed into the house.
Rachel: I was gonna keep it a secret and give you a chance but now I'm telling!
Liza: Rachel!
Rachel: mom!!!
We raced into the kitchen and our mom stood there staring at us.
Rachel: Liza was sat next to a Dobrik during lunch
Mom: what?! What did we tell you! That's it you're grounded for a week
Liza: mom! It was the only seat left! Are you really that pathetic that I can't even sit next to someone at lunch!
Mom: don't speak to me in that way!
Liza: I don't care! I don't want to be seen as Liza Koshy anymore if I have to be as pathetic as the rest of you my whole life.
I run upstairs and pack a few important things in my bag and run out the door ignoring my moms shouting behind me.
I run until I get to David's cliff, I set my bag on the floor and lean against the small fence. I carry on crying as I look out on the city lights in the dark.
I hear he crunch of a car on gravel behind me, I turn around and I'm blinded by a cars lights.
David: Liza?
He runs out of his car and races towards me.
David: what's wrong? what happened? Why are you here?
I just look into his dark brown eyes and fall into his chest sobbing.
David: it's okay baby
He wraps his arms around my back and gently kisses my curls.
I soon stop crying David still holding onto me.
David: wanna talk about it?
I nod, and he loosens his grip got look at me.
Liza: I ran away from home
His eyes widen at me
David: why? What happened?
Liza: that girl told Rachel that she saw us at lunch and Rachel told my mom, we argued and I said I didn't want to be a koshy if that meant I had to be pathetic as them, so I packed a bag and ran, and I got here I didn't even know you were coming
David: I had to get out so this is my spot, I can't believe you fought for us
Liza: I would fight for us anyday of the week, because I love you bubba
I cup his face in my hands and a smile curls onto both of our faces
David: I love you too L, but where are you gonna go now?
Liza: gabbies? Kristens? A hotel? As long as it's not there I'll be fine
David: I would let you stay bu-
Liza: I know why bubs, don't worry about me I can make it on my own
David: of course I'm gonna worry about you, do you have any money?
Liza: uh, I grabbed my purse but I don't know if there's even any money I was kind of in a rush
I pick up my bag and fish for my purse, i pull it out and find $50.
Liza: $50
David: you can't make it on just $50, let me give you some money
He reaches for his wallet in his back pocket but I grab his hand before he can
Liza: no you're not giving me money, I don't need anymore
David: yes you do
He gives me a $100 bill I try to give it back but he refuses so I keep it in the end
Liza: you don't need to give me money
David: I have enough
Liza: what am I supposed to do about school
David: well tomorrow's Saturday so you can work it out till then
Liza: I don't know if I'll go
David: but how would I ever see you
Liza: it's not like we ever talk during school
David: I still like to see you
I smile and he gently kisses me, I pull him closer to me and we deepen the kiss.
Liza: I needed that
I said as we pulled away. I check the time on my phone 7:46
Liza: when do you need to be back home?
David: I've got a few hours
Liza: wanna go to the beach
He gives me his classic smile and we head for the car. We get to our small private beach slip off our shoes and walk onto the soft sand.
I lay inbetween David's legs and we watch the sea splash onto the shore.
??: D?
I turn and see a blonde little girl
David: Esther!
He shuffles around and stands up brushing the sand off of him.
David: what are you doing here?
Ester: same question for you? Who's that?
I stand up from where I'm sat and wait for his reply.
Esther: aren't you um... what's her name... L-li- Liza Koshy?
Liza: uh yeah
I murmur
Esther: nice to meet you I'm Esther David's sister
She walks towards me and shakes my hand, I hesitantly shake back.
Esther: is this your girlfriend?
David: um yeah
I shoot my head up at him, what? He never asked me to be his girlfriend, what am I saying he knows I would say yes
Esther: oh yay! You should've told me sooner
Liza: bubs
I hear her aw in the background as I say his nickname
Liza: what's going on?
David: to be honest I have no clue
David: Esther do you know about the koshys?
Esther: of course I've known that story since I was like 8
David: but...
Esther: just because our parents have rivalry doesn't mean we have to too besides Liza looks sweet
She turns to me and gives me a smile
David: anyway, how did you get here?
Esther: a taxi
David: how did you know to come here?
Esther: I found out the find my iPhone password
David: you tracked me?!
Esther: I knew you were hiding something and I suspected a girlfriend so I had to find out
David: you need to get home before mom and dad notice
Esther: they won't, they don't even notice when you sneak out st midnight every night
David: you know about that?
Esther: our rooms are right next door to eachother
David: come on, I'll drive you home
He pauses and turns to me
Liza: don't worry I'll call Gabbie
David: do you want me to take you?
Liza: are you sure
David: I don't want you walking that's like 45 minute walk
I smile and he reaches for my hand and we get into his car. I text Gabbie and ask if I can stay the night she says yes of course.
We get outside her house, I climb out the car and so does David.
He walks towards me and grips my waist.
David: I love you L
He kisses me, my arms swing round his neck as our tongues touch. We pull away and turn to see Esther covering her eyes, I let out a little giggle and look at the floor.
Liza: thanks for staying with me
David: anytime
Liza: I better go in before Gabbie comes out
David: hang on
He goes to his car and opens up the trunk and pulls out his black hoodie.
I quickly snatch it up and snuggle it in my arms and take in his scent.
Liza: thanks bubs
David: text me whenever okay?
Liza: okay
We say goodbye and peck on the lips
He walks back to his car I smile once more before knocking on gabbies door.
She opens with a big grin and wide eyes
Gabbie: lil brown girl!
Liza: gobbie!
we jump into a hug and I walk inside.
