~~~PRESENT~~~
When I reach the top pf the Ferris wheel I sit down on a bar and Tobias sits beside me while I catch my breath. I gasp at the sight of the carnival lighting up the darkness. It looks absolutely beautiful.
"It's amazing." I smile at Tobias and he smiles at me. "Thank you for today. It's the best date I've ever been on."
"Really?" He asks a bit surprised.
"Really."
"Well I have to admit it's the best date i've ever been on too." I can't believe what he just said. Surely the most handsome boy ever has been on much better dates.
"Really?"
"Really." He smiles. "I was never in love with those other girls like I am with you Tris."
My heart warms at his kind words but also breaks when he says other girls. How many other girls have there been? How many got to kiss him? How many slept with him? The idea of another girl's hands all over Tobias makes me sick.
"I love you." I whisper and he kisses me. But i have to pull away as I hear a familiar tune. I pull out my phone annoyed for it ruining a perfect moment. I gulp when I see my dad's number. I see the time and realize it is 7:30. I forgot I was grounded! Dad is going to kill me.
"Who is it?" Tobias frowns.
"My dad." I answer the phone.
"Where are you?" Dad yells through the line and I rub my forehead. Tobias's arm wraps around me and I feel more confident.
"At the spring carnival. It's no big deal." I try to sound stronger than I feel.
"No big of a deal! That's it! I'll be there in ten. Meet me at the gate and if you don't show up you will be in even bigger trouble Missy!"
"I will be there." I hang up and take in a deep breath. That went better than I thought.
"I need to meet him at the gate." I explain to Tobias.
"Okay, I'll take you there." We begin to climb down the ferris wheel and walk to the gate. Neither of us talk. I am too busy thinking and I don't know why he doesn't say anything. I can't stop thinking about how much shit my dad is going to give me as soon as he slams the door of his car and stomps over to me. I can just imagine his red face.
When we reach the gate my dad's car isn't insight.
"I think you should go."
"What?" Tobias seems hurt.
"Not that I don't want you here. I just don't think my dad would be okay with a boy being here with me. Especially a boyfriend."
"You are going to tell them eventually though right? About us?"
"Of course. I'm just not ready." I reach up to kiss him lightly.
"I'll see you at school tomorrow." Tobias waves goodbye and leaves. Seconds later my father arrives and does exactly what I imagined he would do. He slams his door and stomps over to me, his face like a tomato.
"Is anyone here with you?" He demands.
"No. I came alone." I lie. He doesn't seem to believe me but he lets it slide.
"Get in the car." He orders and I walk over to the car.
"Wait! Tris!" I spin around and so does my father. I stare in shock as Tobias runs towards us.
