Hope

Julius and I drove in Daniel's car on the dark road. We were obviously heading to my house even though I wasn't ready. I knew that my dad and I would have to have this conversation eventually, Julius told me that I couldn't let it eat me up and that holding things in wasn't healthy for someone as powerful as me. Specially after that stupid scream that I did.

"Are you okay?" He broke the silence without looking at me as he kept his eyes on the road.

"Are you okay?" I changed the subject while putting a fake smile on my face as I looked over at him.

"What do you mean?" He asked, still, without looking.

"I mean, it took you an awful long time to just be saying goodbye to Danny." I stated.

Julius let out a small chuckle after my words and as he continued to smile, he glanced over at me then looked back onto the road.

"Princess?" Julius scoffed with a smile. "I'm not gay."

"Oh." I replied shockingly, raising one of my eyebrows. "Definitely could've fooled me."

The car became silent again, then we pulled up into the driveway of my home. My heart pounded in my chest. It felt like freshman year all over again. Julius brought the car to a complete stop and cut off the engine.

"It's the middle of the night, they're probably sleeping." Julius shrugged. We both stepped out of the car, I didn't even think about getting my bags out of the car. I wanted my entrance to be as quiet as possible.

"You're a vampire, why don't you know how heightened senses work again?" I asked. I felt like I was hiding everything with sarcasm.

"You're a witch." Julius replied cockily. "Why don't you understand how your own magic works?" He asked. I looked back at him and admired his quick comeback in my head but, in reality, I made a face at him and then turned back around.

I placed my hand softly on the doorknob and slowly opened the door. Once the door opened, everyone's attention was on me. My uncle Henric, Klaus, my mom, and some strange guy was sitting there on the couch. It almost felt like they knew that I was coming.

"Hope." My mom burst into tears and quickly walked towards me. She pulled me into a hug and as we hugged, I looked around her shoulder and stared at Klaus who slowly stood up from the couch and stared back at me. "Where were you?" Hayley asked as she pulled away from me. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." I nodded looking in lot her watery eyes as she kneeled before me. "I'm fine."

I looked up from her face, and stared up and Klaus as he walked closer to where Hayley and I were standing. I moved from in front of her and ignored that he tried to acknowledge the fact that I was home. He walked so hesitantly that it seemed as though he watched me watch him kill those people.

As I prepare to walk past him, he tried to he tried to give me a hug and held my hands up in surrender.

"Don't—touch me." I stated seriously without looking up at him to see his reaction. From the corner of my eyes, I saw my mom stand up from the floor while looking at Klaus.
