  " . . . Russia."
Russia stood and followed the doctor to the hospital room where Masha was.
"Don't take too long, she needs rest," the doctor said, opening the door.
Nodding, Russia walked past him.
It almost broke his heart to see Masha hooked up to all those machines. He couldn't help feeling that this was all his fault.
"I'm sorry," he whispered.
"For what?" Her hoarse voice was comforting, and she looked up at him with her beautiful eyes. "Russia, this isn't your fault."
"But I hurt you," he mumbled.
"You didn't do it on purpose," she said firmly.
He was quiet for a moment.
"Why did you want me?" he asked finally.
"Because I love you," she smiled, taking his hand in one of her own.
He stared at her in shock.
"I . . . w-what?!" he stuttered.
"You heard me," she said, closing her eyes briefly. "Now go. The hospital will call you when I'm released."
Russia headed towards the door, but paused with his hand on the doorknob and looked back at her.
"You aren't joking, are you?" he asked uncertainly.
"No," she assured him. "I really do love you."
"I love you too," he said, watching her face closely.
"I know that," she murmured, closing her eyes again.
He smiled to himself and left the room.
