ChanBaek One shots

Thanks Baby

Chanyeol arrived home with his son in hands. Taehyung had fallen asleep on his Father's shoulder after having a long ride home from school. Chanyeol carefully walked into his baby's bedroom and laid the sleeping boy into the covers. Since it was a Friday they were both not busy the next day so Chanyeol didn't have to worry about his son falling asleep at such an early time.

Kissing the boy on his forehead Chanyeol slowly backed out of the room, pulling the tie that hung around his neck loose until it was able to get over his head. Unbuttoning three of the top buttons of his dress shirt, Chanyeol ruffled his hair and drew a sigh. He had a hard time at work and he couldn't help but notice that Taehyung hadn't left the school with a smile like he usually did. Chanyeol had wanted to question the 4 year old when they were on their way home, but thought against it when he realised his baby wasn't paying attention, instead the little boy paid more attention to the passing cars and trees that whizzed by outside the car window.

Flicking the kettle to make himself some calming tea Chanyeol finally had time to set his mind at ease. His thoughts lingered on the boy in the room down the hall. His feelings jumbled over the fact Taehyung wasn't shining with a glow like he had always had when he was the one to pick him up from school.

Chanyeol heard his phone ring from his pocket, with a deep breath Chanyeol mentally prepared himself to answer the work call. Without looking at the caller ID he slid the green button across the screen and held the phone to his ear.

"Hey Chanyeol it's Chen I just wanted to know if you needed me to pick up Taehyung from school on Monday like usual?"

The giant released a breath of air and smiled. "No Jongdae I think I'll be able to pick him up from now on next week, thanks for the help though"

"No bother Chan, i had fun with the little monster this week I'm glad I could help"

"Ah I am really sorry for asking you to babysit him for me this week, work was just so hard and stressful but I managed to get everything I needed to do so I do really need to say thank you"

"You can thank me by letting me get back to Minseok, he rented this movie and we need to watch it tonight since it's due back to the store tomorrow"

Chanyeol chuckled and nodded fully aware that Chen couldn't see it through the phone. "Yeah sure, I'll pay for your time you minded Tae, I really appreciate it Dae"

"Don't you dare lay me a dime. He's my nephew I don't need to be paid to watch him"

"We aren't related so how is he your nephew"

"You aren't related either but you're his dad"

Chanyeol became silent, knowing that what Chen said was true. Taehyung wasn't his, Taehyung was the kid Chanyeol adopted a couple years ago. He hadn't told the boy the truth behind being adopted but Taehyung was only 4 years old, how was he supposed to break such news to an innocent little baby.

As Chanyeol thought about this, he couldn't help but wonder was that the reason Taehyung was feeling down today?

"Anyway, I'll call you tomorrow bye Chan"

The giant couldn't even reply before Chen cut the call and the dial tone took up his line. A chuckle escaped Chanyeol's lips as he pushed the phone back into his pocket and poured himself a cup of tea.

A loud cry forced him leave the hot steamy cup on the counter and rush down the hall, almost slipping over his feet.

"Daddy!" Taehyung yelled, his cheeks filled with tears as he sat up in his bed, his hands forming a grabbing action. Chanyeol figured out a while ago that, that usually meant that Taehyung wanted to be picked up. Immediately the giant settled himself down on the edge of the bed and picked his baby from the clutches of the comforter and into the warmth of his embrace.
