Goodbye

I know it's crap, but this is the last night I'll ever spend with him, and I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that

So here, a poem for my baby.

Close your eyes now, my little friend
Upon your comfort, can no longer depend.
I watch you slowly slip away,
Into my memories where you shall stay.

Rest and sleep now, my little friend.
I won't fake a smile, or play pretend.
But I will grieve and I will mourn,
I saw a plea in your eyes, I could've sworn.
But it's too late now, as you drift off to sleep,
Leaving me alone, as I gently weep.

I'll miss you much, my little friend.
But do not fear, my heart will mend.
Watch me from the stars above,
Forever and ever I will feel your love.
Hidden in the sunken sky,
And when you said your last goodbye.

Goodnight for now, my little friend
But this is not the very end.
I'll wait for you, and although I may cry.
One day I'll join you, flying through the night sky.
