Chapter 9
Just at that moment, my phone beeped to say it was 5:00 pm. "
Oh, oh no! I have to go!" I said quickly, and letting go of his hand, I ran to pick up my bag.
"Where?" asked Ben, hurrying over to me. I turned to face him, trying my very best to not show my fear.
"My dad will kill me if I don't get home and do the housework. I have no choice, I have to go." I said, moving towards the door.
"Well, take this with you," he said softly, wrapping his sculpture in a piece of tissue paper and handing it to me.
I smiled down at it, cradling it in my hands.
"I'll see you tomorrow then," he said.
"Yeah," I replied and opened the door.
I walked out and popped my head back round the door frame. "Thank you," I said quietly. "For understanding."
and with that, I left.
