Endless (Maze Runner Fanfiction, Newt)

Chapter 3

I sat in a chair facing eleven other boys. They were seated in chairs arranged in a semicircle around me. After I was settled, I realized they were keepers and that meant that Gally was among them. Why, I thought to myself. "okay! We have all gathered here to talk about why the creators sent the first girl into the glade--" Newt started but was cut off by Gally who stood up out of his seat. "look!, We all know that she has to be working for the creators. Why else would they send a girl! The first ever." Gally said. This started off a rumbling of murmurs and whispers, but Newt shushed them. "Gally! Keep some bloody order, here. If your gonna say something every time I speak, you could just leave! Because I'm not in a bloody cheerful mood to be pissed off!" Newt said. I wished I could get up and start cheering but I just sat there trying to hide a smile. Gally sat back in his seat and crossed his arms. "Ok then, we will go down the line. Hear everyone's opinion. then decide what to do." Newt said. "Frypan, you're first" he said pointing at frypan. Frypan moved around in his seat and rubbed his hands together. "well, I think she is just like us. I mean, she looked as confused as anyone that came out of the box. It looks like she doesn't know where she is and that she is confused about everything, like any other greenie would be. I don't think she's a spy." he said. "so, any recommendations?" Newt asked. Frypan shook his head. "ok, next is..Zart the fart." Newt said jokingly. Several people laughed but the guy just shifted in his seat. "Well, I don't know. She could be a spy working for the creators. But then again, she did look like she didn't know what was going on--" zart said but was cut off by Gally. "Whatever. I know I'm right! There isnt time to hold a gathering!" he said. I looked over at Newt, who had his face in his hands, obviously very annoyed. "Gally! Shut your bloody hole!" Newt yelled standing for effect this time. "If I hear one more word out of turn from you, i'll be arranging a banishment for your sorry butt." Gally rolled his eyes and slouched back in his seat. "Ok. Winston, your up." Alby said for the first time. "Well I don't trust her. I say we lock her up in the slammer t'il we really know what's going on." Winston said. Gally clapped earning a glare from Newt. "Ok, next." Alby said. Two more keepers spoke, one for Frypan's idea and one for Winston's. Then it was Newt's turn. "I think she is just like us. She doesn't look like a spy to me. I agree with Frypan." he said. Relief flooded through me. I wanted to get up and give Newt a hug. At least most of the keepers didn't think I was a spy. More keepers spoke. Some thought I should be kept in the slammer, what ever that was, and some thought I was just like them. "ok Gally." Newt said rolling his eyes. "I think I've made my opinion pretty clear already." Gally said. Great, I thought, then keep your mouth shut! "Good that" Newt said. "Minho, you're-" Newt started but was cut off. "NO!" Gally yelled, making me and a couple other keepers jump in their seats. "I still want to say something!" "Then bloody say it!" Newt yelled. "Think about it. A girl shows up here, all scared and confused but what if its all an act." Gally yelled staring right at me, His face turned red. "We can't trust her! I say we lock her up. Forever!" Gally yelled. Newt slowly walked over to Gally and stopped right in front of him. "Get out." newt said calmly. "what?" Gally asked. "I said get out!" Newt yelled and pointed to the door. Even Alby's mouth stood agape. "Fine, but we shouldn't trust her." Gally said before heading out the door. Newt sighed and sat back down. "ok last but not least, Minho." Alby said. "I agree with Frypan." After I got some courage to say something I said "I just love how you guys are acting like I'm not even here." "Let's vote!" Alby said ignoring me. "All in favor of putting Megan in the slammer til we figure things out raise their hand." Winston was the only one. "ok, we don't put her in the slammer but everyone put some thought into it." Alby announced. "This gathering is over." Relief flooded through me. I got up and headed out the door. I walked back to where I left my blanket. The walls were about to close soon. I suddenly saw Newt coming out of homestead with two sandwiches. He sat down next to me and handed me a sandwich. "thanks, and thank you for defending me at the gathering." I said as I took a bite out if my sandwich. "Look, you didn't look like a spy to me. I just spoke the truth." he said. I looked up. the sky was purple and looked like it was ready to break out into a starry night. "Good night Megan." Newt said before drowsiness took over me and  I fell asleep.
