Months later...

Michael's hand twitched as he waited for his phone to ring. They should be calling any time now saying they found her, or so he hopes. The vivid imagery he witnessed last night never left his mind as if it was glued on.

The blood, the gore, the corpse.

Michael vividly remembered himself rushing to the scene of a car flipped over, slicing a woman in half. Her injuries were serious and death was apparent. Michael screamed as soon as he recognized the familiar face.

The woman gurgled the blood being pulled into her throat by gravity to keep her from choking.

"They took her" She managed to say weakly as she cried in agony.
"Whose they?" Michael asked getting down on his knees to comfort her.

"Sir we need you to back away" One of the first responders ushered him.

Michael stood back and watched as a crane helped stand the car upright.

The woman on the ground was slowly closing her eyes before whispering an incoherent word.

Paramedics quickly rushed to her side to check for a pulse which was faint. The stretcher appeared next to them and everyone was seen rushing into the ambulance.

The driver of the vehicle had a much worse fate and was declared dead at the scene.

Michael didn't know how to feel. How to act. What to do. His daughter was missing and his love was seconds away from death.

Back to reality, Michael was on his third bottle of whiskey. His face was an ocean of tears as he tried to comprehend what could of possibly happened.

He knew police were doing an investigation but he needed much more then that.

Michael couldn't imagine where his sweet Lauren could possibly be.

Did she manage to run away? Was she even in the car? Did someone take her?

There were so many questions spiraling inside his head but none had answers.

On the other hand, Marissa was in critical shape. According to police, it seemed she almost flew out the window but not before the car flipped over, squishing her organs.

She had some internal bleeding in her lungs which was apparent due to her coughing out blood.

Michael remembered her saying "they took her" but there was never a clarification.

Michael sat pondering on the millions of questions still inside his head.
