Travis led me along one path through the forest while holding my hand. There were fairy lights strung along the branches of the trees around us. The trees' leaves made a canopy above us. Nothing felt more right than being here in the woods with Travis Stoll.

Near the end of the trail, we sat down on a bench. It was surprisingly comfortable even though it was your average metal bench. Travis asked me, "What happened? What made you like me after. . . the thing?"

I replied, "I guess I always liked you, but I didn't know if I could trust you."

"What about the thing made you trust me?"

"Why do you call it 'the thing'?"

"Do you have a better name for it?"

" I guess not."

"Then back to the question."

"Fine. You were the first person to know. I had to let it out. In that moment, I just knew I could trust you. It wasn't the thing that made me trust you. It was a gut feeling."

"So I had no effect in the choice?"

"Not even a little bit."

"Oh."

I start laughing. "Your face. Just your face right then. Priceless." I continue laughing. Eventually Travis joins in, but it take a whole minute. Another couple walking by stares at us like we're crazy.

Travis says, "Let's eat Chinese."

"NO."

"What's wrong with eating?"

"Not that. Chinese food. It brings back too many bad memories."

"Seriously?"

"No. I just don't like Chinese food."

"You could've said so."

"No, I really couldn't have."

"Remind me why I love you."

"Wait what?"

"I don't get why I put up with you."

"No, you said love."

"Oh gods. Well, there goes this relationship."

"No, it's great. I love you too."

We started back towards the car.

"Do you always have sudden mood changes?"

"No!"

"You hated me two weeks ago. You barely liked me an hour ago."

"They're not sudden, and I always loved you. I just didn't know."

"Doesn't not knowing take away the whole point of it?"

"Oh, gods."

A few minutes later we reached the car. Travis started the car and said, "I know the perfect place to eat."

"Where?"

"You'll find out."

"I hate these surprises. I'm planning the next date."

"No thanks."

"Nope. I'm doing it. If you don't come then I'll go by myself."

He laughed.

This is this. I'm horrible at writing dates. This is my 5th try. It still doesn't feel right, but I'll fix it some other time.
