Chapter 28 - See you again

We're friends, real friends. And that means, no matter how long it takes, when you finally do decide to look back, I'll still be there.

2 months later

📍Seattle, Joe's bar

Cristina's POV

Meredith and I were at Joe's to drink while Owen was looking after the kids, because it was our last night together. We were leaving Seattle the following morning.

Meredith - It's been a while since we came here for the last time.

Me - Yeah, right now I'm going to drink a lot.

Meredith - Let me get the first round. Two Tequila !

Two hours later we were totally drunk and we have talked about a lot of things, memories from when we were interns, then residents, and now. Much had changed since our first year at Seattle Grace. We were not these stupid interns anymore. We were brillant surgeons, with a family.

Me - I think...we should go home. I can hardly stand.

Meredith - Yup, me neither. I'll call a cab.

📍Seattle, Meredith's house

Owen's POV

I was in the bed when Cristina and Meredith came home, drunk. Obviously. Cristina took off her clothes and lay next to me.

Cristina - Where is Madi ?

Me - She's sleeping, like Zola, Bailey and Ellis.

Cristina - Thanks for watching the kids. I needed this evening with Meredith before we leave.

Me - I know.

The next morning

The sun had just come up and it was time to get up, our plane was at 8 a.m.
I decided to let Cristina sleep a little more while I packed the last things and prepared Madi.

One hours later we were ready to go. Meredith had woken up to say goodbye to us.

Meredith's POV

Owen, Cristina and Madi were about to leave. I was so sad of Cristina's departure but she had a family now, and a life somewhere else than here.

Me - I cannot believe you're leaving me. Again.

Cristina - Oh Mer,...I have to.

Me - I know and I don't want to keep you...I just...I'm gonna miss you terribly.

Cristina - I'm gonna miss you too. But you're my person don't forget that.

We hugged and just as they were leaving, Zola came running.

Me - Zola ! You're already up ?

Zola - I wanted to see auntie Cristina before she leaves. And Owen and Madi.

Cristina - Ooh Zola !

Zola - I don't want you to leave.

Cristina - I know...I know but we have to leave. And we'll come back to visit, okay ?

Zola - Okay...

Cristina - I promise.

Zola hugged her and they left, for good this time.

📍Seattle, airport

Cristina's POV

While we were waiting for the plane I decided to call Shane. I had gone almost a year and hadn't told him anything. He answered on the first ring.

Shane - Hello ?

Me - Shane, it's me, Cristina.

Shane - Dr Yang ?! Oh my god, it's nice to hear your voice again. What happened all this time you were gone ? It's been, what, six-seven months ?

Me - Almost a year actually.

Shane - Oh, time flies.

Me - Uh, listen, I'm coming back tomorrow and I'll explain everything.

Shane - Okay, it'll be good to have you back. See you tomorrow then.

Me - Bye.

During the flight Madi was really nice and she didn't cry at all. Probably because she was sleeping most of time.

📍Zurich, Cristina's apartment

Owen's POV

When we got off the plane in Zurich, Cristina brought our little family to her apartment. It was pretty spacious and bright, well, a little bit messy but lovely, and there was a beautiful view over Zurich.

Cristina - Welcome home !

Me - It's really nice here.

Cristina - I'm sure you'll love Zurich, and tomorrow I'll show you the hospital. You'll see it's right on the river, it's a really nice place...I know it must be hard for you to move halfway across the world and I'm so grateful for that. Thank you so much.

Me - It's perfect, we're going to be happy here.

Cristina - What would I do without you ?

She came towards me and kissed me.

Cristina - Come on, I'll give you the tour. So, here is my room, well, our room, with the bathroom. And Madi can sleep here. To Madi, right baby ? Now you'll have your own room.

She seemed so happy here.
