"No, I really don't want to be so close to anyone." I explained as Jax crossed off another place in the newspaper. When he meant 'move in', he meant that we would find a place together. Which was fine by me, but I was afraid to go home alone.
"What about this one. Two bedroom, two bath and a beautiful ocean view that's right across the street." Jax said as I thought about it. It would be just like the beach house that we used to vacation in. Not a bad idea, but everyone wants to live on the ocean.
"Everyone wants to live on the ocean, Jax." I said, refilling his beer glass. "As much as I love the beach, I want a reason to drive there."
"How about this one, this is actually around your brother's place." He pointed as I saw the address. It was right next to his house. I don't know how my brother would feel about living next to his sister and his best friend.
"My brother would think that I am spying on him." I said, wiping the bar counter down. He smiled. "Come on, princess. Wouldn't that be better for us? And besides, I don't think he will mind since he was the one who told me in the first place."
I was shocked. "You told Brandon?"
"Yeah, I asked if anyone was selling and he said the neighbors just moved out and want it bought as soon as possible." Jax explained as I threw my hands in my hair. We had both agreed not to tell anyone about it, until we officially moved in somewhere. "Anyway, I kinda already gave them a price and they agreed. I just wanted to know if you wanted to live somewhere else, before I told them yes."
I was upset about it, but at the same time I wasn't. Thinking about it made it seem like a better idea. I would get to see Vicki and Brandon more, plus if anything were to happen to either of us, we are right next door, not across town. Brandon and Vicki were my only family that I had.
"So, what do you think?" Jax asked as I looked back to him.
"I think we should take it." I said as I gave him a smile, he leaned over the bar and kissed me. "I think it would be a good idea since Brandon and Vicki are the only family I have left."
"What about me, princess? Am I just some fuck toy to you?" Jax joked as I smirked.
"You are more than just family, Jax. You are the love of my life." I paused as he got up from the bar. "Call those people back and take it, sooner we move in, the sooner I'll be able to sleep at night." I said, going back to work, thinking that Jax had left.
"What?" Jax said, his voice sounded like he was really to murder someone. "Why can't you sleep at night?"
"Jax, its nothing. Go, I have to get back to work." I said, but Jax grabbed my wrist. He looked me in his eyes and knew something wasn't right. "Jax, I'll be fine, don't worry about it."
"I'll be at your place when you get out of work, okay? I know you don't want me to, but something happened today and I don't want anything else to hurt you. I love you, Maddie." He said, kissing my hand and walking out the bar.
My heart felt warming, just knowing that he had changed. The old Jax, wouldn't just listened to me and left, but he's more overprotected and I loved him for that. I felt a lot safer, knowing that he was going to be home waiting for me.

"I'm just leaving work now, babe." I said, my cell phone was being held by my neck and shoulder, as I grabbed my keys from my pocket.
"Okay, well, I have a surprise waiting for you." Jax said as a smile appeared on my face. "I'll see you when you walk through the door."
I laughed, but when I got the door unlocked, I dropped my phone onto the ground. "Shit!" I bent down to pick it up, but when I got up, Flynn was standing next to me.
