the sound of the alarm clock awoken the girl who was currently sprawled all over her bed. it irritated her, but she had no choice but to get up from dreamland.she slowly stretched her arms, feeling contented from the sleep she had. gazing upon the window, she watched as birds flew across her gaze, the sunlight flashing bright this morning.
she then turned to look at her alarm clock. and the supposed to be good day turned upside down. she was late. "oh my god!" she scrambled out of her bed, dashing to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
she was able to wash up, get dressed, and fix herself in the span of ten minutes, and by the time she left, she only had thirty minutes before her first day starts.
ofcourse the bad luck would follow her throughout the day. she forgot her breakfast, the line for the train was too long, and there were no available seats by the time she finally entered the train. "what a great start." she mumbled.
along the train ride, she felt nervous all of the sudden. she couldn't think things through yesterday, since she was already dead tired by the time she arrived home.
come to think of it, she was a complete idiot. how could she not realize that? she knew the name rings something in her mind, why didn't she remember it before it was too late.
jihyo let out a heavy sigh.
atleast he doesn't seem to remember her now, right? she thought. he doesn't seem to remember... her...huh?
jihyo furrowed her eyebrows. how on earth could he not remember her, after all the pain she has been through. it confused and angered her at the same time.
"was he just pretending on not knowing me?" she whispered to herself.
before she could think any further, the station she needs to get off on was near approaching, so she prepared herself to go to work today.
"alright jihyo, your first day won't be as bad as you think." maybe, just maybe, a word of encouragement may lift her spirits up.
she spots the building that is now just a few meters away, and why did she not turn back earlier? what's the point? it was too late to do that now.
jihyo entered the building with much hesitation, still unfamiliar and overwhelmed with the surrounding she was in.
"hey there!" a voice startled jihyo, making her jump a little. "ah, sorry." the same voice giggled afterwards. she turned around, meeting the eyes of... a hamster lookalike?
"um, hi?" was all jihyo could say, still surprised at the girl's sudden greeting. "you're the new girl, am i right?" the hamster lookalike has a lot of energy, jihyo thought. she nodded shyly, smiling at the other afterward.
"will you let me show you around then? oh! i haven't introduced myself yet, pardon me. i'm sana. minatozaki sana." jihyo thought she resembled a shiba inu at the same time, and the half-shiba and half-hamster lookalike brought her hand out, wanting to shake jihyo's hand, in which jihyo shyly took.
sana had led jihyo to different places, and jihyo thought that she could get lost if she walks alone. however, sana assured her that she'd always be there if jihyo needs help.
after various floors and rooms, jihyo finally arrived to her designated office. the two had exchanged numbers before sana left, so it wouldn't be much of a hassle to talk to each other.
jihyo's officemates were also nice. infact, she had also befriended the girl using the cubicle next to hers. myoui mina, was it? she has been meeting japanese girls alot today, jihyo wonders if she'll meet more.
their office was located at the top floor (thank goodness they have elevators), and were right next to the ceo's office. the ceo could freely enter their department anytime, and it worried jihyo that she'll be able to see him atleast once everyday.
being a newbie had its perks. she doesn't have to do much for the meantime, meaning she can use a bit of her time to contemplate on things.
speaking of, she hasn't contacted nayeon yet. the older was the reason why she got a job... in hell, with angels surrounding her (well except for one maybe). grabbing her phone, she quickly dialed her friend's number.
—
jisoo yah! why did you contact me just now?
sorry, kind of forgot. and stop calling me jisoo!
woah there, you can't be upset. it's just your first day!
yeah sure. but you forgot to tell me one little detail.
what detail?
the ceo? who else?
oh...
oh?
actually, i didn't forget that he's running the company. i just did not tell you.
and why is that?
for the better? you can't have a job if you remain being stubborn, jihyo. so stop whining start working, will ya?
you're being unreasonable, nayeon.
"what's in the past will forever be in the past", you said that yourself, you're the one being unreasonable.
but still, you should've told me, i could've prepared
what is there to prepare for? your heart? you told me you've moved on, you can't just give your heart away that easily again.
...i know that. i'm not making the same mistake again.
i hope i heard that right. take care of yourself, okay?
you too. goodbye.—
right after the call, jihyo banged her head on the desk, careful to not disturb the others currently working. something hit her, she didn't tell nayeon that he seemed to forget her, that he is acting really strange, like they haven't seen each other before.
why is she thinking of him anyway? she's over him now, there's no need to worry anymore. now that he's out of her life, jihyo can do anything she wants to do.
not long after, his secretary has approached jihyo, offering help for her. they had spent the whole morning with introductions and instructions, in which jihyo familiarized almost immediately.
it was nearly lunch time when they finished, and jihyo invited his secretary to have lunch with her. "call me jeongyeon. we're friends now." she smiled afterwards. jihyo had also invited mina and sana, asking to meet up at the company's cafeteria.
by the time jeongyeon and jihyo reached the cafeteria, sana and mina were already there, happily chatting with another girl, who jihyo assumed to be japanese too.
the three noticed their presence and waved for them to take a seat. "ah, i see you've met jeongyeon unnie. this is momo, by the way." mina said, and jihyo sent a warm smile to her new friend.
the group wasted no time and grabbed food, exchanging stories while they were eating. jihyo had also learned that they knew nayeon, she couldn't wait to nag her about always forgetting things.
"ah! before i forget, there's also one thing you need to do." jeongyeon exclaimed in the middle of their lunch. "what is it?" asked jihyo, who was still muching on her food.
"the ceo wants to talk to you privately."
