On Friday morning I pulled up in front of Newt's house. He was stepping out, kissing his aunt on the cheek when I pulled into his driveway. The surprise on his face was well worth the ten minutes out of my way to pick him up.

"What are you doing here?" he asked me as he sat down in the passenger seat. He immediately began to fiddle with my radio as if he owned it, and just like always, I slapped his hand away.

"Driving you to school," I replied, waving to his aunt through the window. I threw the car into reverse and began to back up.

"I can see that, but why?" Newt asked. He knew me fairly well at this point, and so he understood I wasn't characteristically nice.

"Your ribs are broken," I said.

Newt gave me a deadpanned look. "That was almost a month ago, Thomas. I'm basically healed."

I rolled my eyes. "Fine, you caught me. I've decided to kidnap you. Please, don't call the police."

Newt snorted. "Just don't kill us, please?"

"No promises, captive," I replied.
