It was lunchtime when he first found a protagonist at the school.

He wasn't really surprised since he was using his lunch period to wander around the building. The fact that did surprise him was there were two protagonists walking right beside each other. He could only assume that they did hang out with each other often as nobody else seemed too shocked, they all would just occasionally glance at the two.

Locks of mint and locks of red.

Jeongguk had never been friends with another protagonist. He always had gone to smaller schools when he was with his biological parents and with his first adoptive family he ended up missing school most of the time due to how sore he'd be from previous beatings. Of course every now and then he'd see someone else with colorful hair walking down the street and they'd seem to smile at each other but not bother to make conversation.

It seemed like it'd be nice to have someone to talk to about all your struggles and have them relate but Jeongguk quickly shook that thought out of his head. As long as he made sure to dye his hair every week he wouldn't have to worry about having the struggles a protagonist had and he could keep up his normal life.

But he couldn't help but still find it odd. Was it normal for protagonists to be friends with other protagonists? He couldn't exactly ask anyone here, that'd make for an even worst first impression.

Suddenly he was falling backwards and he couldn't help but grimace as his butt smacked against the ground.

"I'm so sorry!" A boy said as he grabbed onto Jeongguk's hand and pulled him up. "I was in a rush and didn't notice you were there!"

"It's fine, no problem."

"Are you new around here?" The boy said as he furthered inspected Jeongguk causing the latter to squirm with how uneasy he was. He didn't really expect himself to talk to anybody on his first day, much less someone who had ran into him a few seconds ago. "I haven't seen you around before."

"I'm new." Jeongguk said as he smiled and looked at the taller boy in front of him. "This is my first day."

"I'm Kim Yugyeom! Hey, do you want to come and eat lunch with me? My friend got stuck with cleaning the classroom during his break."

Jeongguk thought through his suggestion and decided to nod in response. He wasn't going to deny an offer to have lunch with someone else instead of being a loner. Yugyeom seemed to grab onto his hand and pull him along and he was pleasantly surprised to find that they were going to eat out in the courtyard.

The weather was very nice that day after all.

"So, what was your name again?"

"Jeon Jeongguk." He said laughing as he knew he never had told the other boy his name. "My name's Jeon Jeongguk."

"Cool, how old are you Jeongguk?"

"Sixteen, I was born in September."

"I'm sixteen too! But in November so you're my hyung." Yugyeom said chuckling as he began to open his lunch box. "So you're a sophomore?"

"A junior actually, I skipped a grade when I was younger."

"That's so cool! You're in a grade with two protagonists! Are they in any of your classes?"

"They're not in any of my classes so far. I did see two protagonists earlier in the hallway though, the mint and red haired ones, right?"

"Those two are seniors. The mint haired one is Yoongi and the red haired one is Hoseok. There's also another senior named Namjoon who has purple hair."  Yugyeom said as he took a bite out of his sandwich and Jeongguk simply moved his chopsticks to play with his rice. "The two in your grade are Jimin and Taehyung. Jimin has pink hair and Taehyung has orange hair."

"Oh." Jeongguk said nodding satisfied with the information that Yugyeom seemed to give him without thinking he was weird asking about them. "So do Yoongi and Hoseok hang out a lot?"

"Of course! That bunch always hang out whenever they can. In fact lunch is when they all go up to the rooftop and eat." He said as he glanced up at the rooftop and Jeongguk could have sworn he saw a head of purple flash from up there. "They're friends with a silver haired guy named Jin who graduated last year, they're really close. Do protagonists not befriend each other where you used to live?"

"There weren't any at my school."

"There weren't?" Yugyeom said as he dropped his sandwich for dramatic effect. "That's insane!"

Jeongguk simply nodded in response realizing that it really was true that protagonists tend to live in the city. There were numerous more opportunities available living in urban areas anyway and since protagonists lives were event filled it made sense they'd live in the city.

"I've seen a couple on the street and in town every now and then but I never knew like their names or anything." He said sighing as he looked down at his meal. "Just their hair colors."

"Well that's kind of all you need to know about protagonists." Yugyeom said giggling as he finished his sandwich and looked at his watch and gasping. "I'm not going to make it back in time!" He quickly stood up grabbing his trash and looking at Jeongguk. "Can you meet me here for lunch tomorrow too? I can't exchange numbers right now since I'm in a rush, I'll make sure to bring my friend!"

Before Jeongguk could even respond he watched Yugyeom rush away and he simply smiled noting to come to the same spot tomorrow at lunch.
