It's me again God,
Thank You for highlighting certain parts of Your Word to guide and direct me. Thank You for the different translations of the Bible that enable me to understand what You are saying. Help me today to understand these verses and apply them to my life:
"As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life's marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us. We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith's perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God!"
Hebrews 12:1-2 TPTThank You for the many great examples of faithful servants in Your Word and for the present day examples I have amongst the believers I know. Indeed it is as if they surround or encircle me like clouds! Great servants of Yours like Noah, Abraham, Moses and David have paved the way for us and have already run the race set out before them. They all point me to You.
It would be ridiculous to try to run a race with weights attached to my body and yet that is what I often do when I hang onto past hurts and past sins that You have already dealt with. Please help me now as I lay them at the cross and leave them there so I can run with passion and determination!
I love the way this version calls it a 'marathon race' as life certainly seems that way at times! But when I take time to notice that the path of my life has already been set out before me and remember that I have all the resources I need —I feel so much lighter as I run!
I love the way I am encouraged to look away from all the distractions I see around me and 'fasten' my eyes on Jesus, the One who 'birthed' this faith in me in the beginning and will bring my faith to maturity in the end.
How precious is the image of Jesus' focus as He endured the cross —it was the joy set before Him, of the salvation of us all! Just knowing that we would be able to be adopted into Your family for all eternity and that He would sit at Your right hand, gave him such motivation!
Thank You Father for sending Jesus and thank You Jesus for enduring all the agony of the cross for me. You are the ultimate, perfect example of how I want to live my life.
For the glory of Your Name,
Amen.
