MEERA'S POV

" N-No... He didn't come..." I replied.

Today has been a hell of long adventurous, never ending day. First, coming to Mumbai, with Kush. Then all those rumors floating around and now getting lost in a forest surrounded by all sorts of animals and ofcourse, Kush. All the more, if could have been any more worst the rain. It's as if we're put on some test.

And, now I don't even know why I was sharing this story with Kush and in this slashing incessant rain with lightning, he still wants to hear it.

I can't say I was enjoying his company but I won't say I wasn't. His coat was covering our heads and his hand has protectively capturing me, which I couldn't deny owing to the condition in which we were trapped. And Kush isn't the person who can't take advantage of the situation if he wants to but he's also not the kind of person who would.

I saw that dejected look on his face when I said that my Dad didn't come to fetch us.

" Well, we came out alive. Just in case. Don't feel sorry, already..." I snapped and we both had a good laugh.

" Actually, I was angry when he didn't came after an hour. Mayra took my hand and headed the way. She said we can't always depend on our families or on others to find out the way for us. Sometimes we need to do that for ourselves. After 3 long hours, the sun was already down the horizon we found our way back to the camping site. Dad and Mom were sitting together, waiting for us.

I charged on him for not coming to get us. But, he said that now we're experienced enough to help ourselves. He believed in us. I was upset, not on him but on myself. It was Mayra who helped both of us. I could have easily got lost..." I paused thinking about that day, bringing back those times which I spent with my family.

" It was then when Mayra pointed out that I was the one who gave the idea that we should follow the small animals. They always rest beside water and our camping site wasn't far from the lake. It was tedious but we did it."
The rain wasn't that strong now. The wind was cool and soothing now.

" Meera, how old were you back then? "

" I was 15 while Mayra was 18...
Kush, you know... I had my friends going for those Himalayan and all sort of rough terrain treks. I always wanted to be a part of that. I went for a couple of them too. I always told Mayra that those family camps we had were so boring. But now, those boring times are the ones I remember and miss the most... "

I don't know why my cheeks were wet, again, and it wasn't the rain this time. Kush pulled chin to face him.

" You're missing your family. Crying is only the way through which pain finds an escape route, but it won't heal it. You need to meet them. " He said softly.

" K-Kush... I wish Mayra... " I stopped.

It has never happened in these 5 years. I was so strong but with Kush around, I feel so different and succumbed.

" Meera... Like, Mayra said sometimes we need to find a way out ourselves. She's not with us anymore, physically. But emotionally, she'll always be there with you in your heart. Are you doing justice to her but not talking to your parents and abandoning them? " I cried more, hugging him.

" I-It's... Complicated. You won't understand Kush. I don't wanna cry.
I-I'm not weak... It's just that... It's you, it's my home and then some memories.... I-I can't... "
