"Well Diamond....you were adopted...Your mom never died....and well we can start from the beginning." she says.
I nod and she takes a big sigh.
"Before you were born...your mom joined the black panthers....she was fighting for equal rights....She went undercover and went under the name Ginger Hayes....she went to college and met your father....Nayeli switched her plans around when he got her pregnant....your mom never intended to get pregnant....she kept you though...she kept you until she met Roman and got hooked on to drugs...thats not what she wanted though...so she ran...she didnt mean to leave you with Roman but the paper work got to us late...When I got you...you were so small and fragile...I was scared to pick you up...I thought I would break you....but Diamond the point is...Im not your grandma but I will treat you the same regardless" my grandma says.
I nod and get up I go over to her and hug her tightly.
"I love you so much grandma" I say a tear falking from my cheek.
"I love you too...your the best thing that happened to me" she replys.
I kiss her cheek and look at my dad.
"Diamond....I think its time you learn your real name" My dad says.
"Okay" I say.
"Your real name was Tulip Byers..." he says.
I scrunch my noes.
"Can I keep Diamond?" I ask.
He smiles.
"Yes honey you can...but I didnt know anything about your mom and the black panthers...im trying to piece this all together" he says.
I sigh. "Me too dad...but we will find out soon" I say.
He nods and I look back at my grandma.
"Where is grandpa?" I ask.
"He is in the office" she says.
I go pass the living room and into the office. My grandpa has his back turned to me and he is flipping pages.
I come over and see my baby pictures.
He looks up at me and smiles.
"I assume your grandma has told you the truth" he says.
I nod and pull up a chair next to him.
"She did...but that doesnt change anything grandpa" I reply.
He nods and a tear comes from his eye. This is a shock to me because ive never seen my grandpa cry.
"I promised myself you would have whatever you wanted...I spoiled you the day I got you...Diamond...I plan to leave you the world when I get so grey that I fade away...You wont have to worry about working unless you want to....I want you to be happy with no worries...the real word is tough and people are cruel...but I will make sure you have the financial benefits you need to do whatever it is you want to do...Just promise me you wont stray away from who you are" he says.
I hug my grandpa tightly and whisper in his ear.
"Grandpa I promise you" I say.
He pinches my nose like I remember him doing when I was little.
I kiss his cheek and get up again.
One thing hit my mind before I walked out.
My grandpa just said when he gets very grey and fades away....I hope that time wasnt soon...I dont know what I would do with out my grandparents.
I walked back into the next room and smiled at my grandma.
"Well Diamond you better get home and get ready for school tomorrow...Tomorrow will be the day of the pirates...you guys will only go half the day then you are out for 2 weeks" my grandma says.
I let out a breathe of relief.
"Grandma...is it okay with you if I move back in?" I ask.
"Of course dear" she answers.
I smile and look at my dad.
"Come on old man" I tease.
He scowls.
"Hey...Im not old...im just mature" he jokes.
I laugh and go out the door.
My dad meets me at the car and unlocks the door.
We get in the car and he looks at me.
"Diamond...will you ever forgive your mother?" my dad ask.
"Yeah...but I wont forget" I answer.
He nods and starts the car taking off towards town.
*1 hour later*.
We pulled into town and my dad stopped by Dolla Scoop.
We got food and then my dad took me home. When I got there Frog was home and oh boy he looked pissed.
I didnt blame him... He had kissy marks all over his face.
"What happened to you?" I ask.
He scowls.
"I know who my stalker is" he says.
I chuckle. "Who?" I ask.
"Mareoa's old fling Nancy Wright" he says.
I couldnt help it. I went into a fit of giggles.
"HAHA OH WOW....I DIDNT SEE THAT ONE COMING....HAHA ABI IS GOING TO BEAT HER ASS....OH GOD LORDY LORD LORD....FROG YOUR STALKER IS ONE OF MAREOA'S EX'S THIS IS PURE COMEDY....HAHA" I laugh.
"Wait Diamond...what do you mean by Abi beating her ass?" Frog ask.
I stop my laughing and turn serious.
Oh shit...
"Ummm...I dont know what your talking about" I say.
Frog's eyes turn into a suspicious glare.
"No come here" he says inching towards me.
I bag until my back is against the door.
Im screwed but then I think.
I open the door and bolt out of it. I ran all the way across the street and to his mothers door.
"AHH HELP ME" I bang.
She comes to the door quick and opens it.
"FROG IS TRYING TO KILL ME I YELL" to her.
She laughs.
"You two are crazy..." she says.
A few seconds later Frog runs up the stairs.
"FROG WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOUR FACE?" His mom yells.
"Oh god...Mom its not what it looks like" he says.
She places a hand on her hip.
"Your grounded...and no pudding for pirate week" she says.
He grunts and I laugh.
Now I see where he gets the goofy stuff from.
