Chapter 23

*June 1st*

         The last few 2 weeks of May went well Danny and I solved a few cases. I had made some progress on the wedding planning none of the venues I liked in New York could book us that soon so I had started looking in the area again, Jamie and I had decided on some of the music for the wedding we would exit to I'm Yours by Jason Mraz, since his Mom had passed he would dance with Erin instead and they were going to dance to My Wish by Rascle Flatts, I was going to dance with my Papaw to Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman, our first dance  song is You Are The Best Thing by Ray LaMontange and we decided that he would chose the wedding party entrance song and that would be his song to me and I  would pick my entrance song and that would be my song to him and the only one to know the songs were going to be our DJ my cousin Freddy, and  we finished off our guest list. Jamie and I were getting engagement pictures done next weekend my family Aspyn and Ryan would be arriving probably around noon today. Jamie finished moving in last week I spent the rest of the week cleaning and getting ready for Lilly and  had taken 6 days off to make sure everything got settled.  This Saturday us girls were going to pick out bridesmaids dresses and hopefully my dress and sending the boys to pick out their suits. Aspyn and Ryan were the first to arrive she knocked and came in and said " I have 2 surprises for you " I said "one of them better be an 10 year old screaming aunt Ty-ty " she said " thats not a surprise you know Ryan was coming now when you see these guys your going to be so excited" she went back outside and came back with my other best friend Mackenzie, Aspyn's ex-boy friend Nathan, and Ryan also I noticed a new ring on Aspyn's ring finger. I introduced everyone to Jamie Ryan loves that I'm a cop so he was  excited that Jamie was to so he was asking Jamie a hundred questions Jamie was so good with him it made my heart happy because I loved Ryan as my own after all he had been through and he's dad left when he was young so I've always been there for him. I pulled Aspyn and Nathan into the kitchen I said " I see a ring and you guys haven't been together since we were 21 so what am I missing?" Nathan said " well you know Aspyn and I have always stayed friends and I hoped one day we would end up back together well we went out for drinks a few weeks back and one thing led to another and well we are officially back together and engaged."  Aspyn said " Nate you forgot one thing I'm pregnant" I said " the only thing I have to say is it's about damn time and I'm so excited " Aspyn said "Nate you owe me 5 dollars I knew that's what she'd say the date is New Year's Day after we are married Nathan is going to adopt Ryan" I said " oh my god he will be so excited he has always thought of you as his dad. does he know yet?" Nathan said "no not yet."  Then I turn to Mackenzie I said "Mack whats new with you" she said " still doing hair and I have a new boy friend his name is Chad" I said " when are you going to hang that up and go back to Ty we all know you still love him that's why you go running every time he is off deployment" she said " he is still my friend so of course I want to see him when he is off deployment right now he is over seas and won't be home till the end of August or early September that makes this deployment 18 months longs." I said " he'll be home just in time for your birthday and my wedding, so who is Chad" she said " I met him at the grocery store he is really nice we only been going out a couple of weeks" Finally my family got there once they did we all headed down stairs to bring Lilly's stuff up that took us a while once everything was brought up my family headed over to there hotel to check in and and get settled and they would come back later. Jamie Nathan and Ryan were hanging out in the living room while Lilly, Aspyn, Mack, and I were unpacking Lilly's stuff. I had a certain dress I was wanting to try on when we went shopping and I had sent a picture to to Aspyn before. We were talking and Aspyn said "you know that dress you really like " I said " of course I do " she said " I know you want to go to try it on and the dress shops where you've made appointments but I made a few calls to some of the bridal resale shops one of them has the dress in your size in mint condition for about half the cost the owner is holding it for you" I said " how could I ask for a better best friend" Aspyn said "you couldn't " Mack's phone rang she went to take the call she came back she said " well Chad broke up with me but Ty text me he can facetime me tonight" I said " oh can we be with you I miss Ty " Aspyn said " I second that Ty is the best" Mack said " I know I always fight with you guys about my feelings for Ty but in all honesty I never got over Ty I've always had feelings for him I've always loved him nothing changed since I was 16 and he was 17 in high school besides we are grown up now I'm doing hair and he's in the Marines" I said " I know it you only argue about stuff like that if your hiding from it I think you should just tell him Mack you guys deserve to be happy " Mack said "maybe I will" We didn't finish unpacking all of Lilly's stuff but we stopped when we got hungry and ordered pizza. Ty was going to facetime Mack around 5 and it was getting pretty close to that time and we were pretty sure we had convinced Mack to tell Ty how she felt. Lilly was not fully settled but enough of her stuff was put away and she could sleep in her room tonight. Lilly was going to watch Ryan while we all went out for drinks tonight. My family decided to wait and come over tomorrow instead of tonight just so they could get some rest. My phone was ringing it was Frank I answered " hello Frank" Frank said "hey Tyra did your family make it in to town okay?" I said " yes they did" Frank said " I have been thinking since our families haven't met yet I was thinking instead of having Sunday dinner at my house we could go out and your family could come as well that way our first meeting isn't your wedding" I said "that's a great idea Frank " he said "okay you and Jamie pick the place" I said "okay we will thank you Frank see you soon" Frank said " your welcome you guys have a good night" I told Jamie. Then I heard Mack's phone ringing I knew it was Ty we all rushed over to where she was so we could see him we all said out hellos and we all caught up once we were done we left Mack alone to talk to Ty but we stayed close enough to ease drop. Everything went well Mack and Ty decided to get back together. We all got ready to go out of course Aspyn couldn't drink but she was still going out with us. I was happy Jamie hit it off with my friends and then we headed out. Jamie and Nathan were off playing darts and us girls were waiting on our appetizers at the table. Mack said " Are we going to address the elephant in the room?" I said " what elephant I don't see one?" Mack said " you know what I mean is a Catholic Priest or your Papaw going to marry you and Jamie and where is it going to happen?" I said " I don't have answers to these questions but trust me I run those questions over in my head a 100 times a day" Aspyn said "let's just break it down okay your dream has always been for Papaw Gary to marry you but now that your marrying Jamie and he is Catholic you have a whole other situation but in my honest opinion what I know of Jamie you could get the bartender to marry you and he would be happy maybe you guys should just talk it out" Mack said " If I had to take a guess most of the New York venues won't book you so close to the wedding right" I said " not the initial places I looked but there are other places I can try and places in Tennessee." The guys came back to the table Mack said "There is one more surprise we have for you " I said " yay more surprises" Mack said " well you know my boss has been expanding her salons well she is wanting to open one here in the city I'm suppose to tour some places while I'm here and I've already put a deposit on an apartment in Brooklyn Heights" Aspyn said " Also Nathan's job has offered him a new job in Brooklyn to open a new Computer Security Firm here in the city and when I was here several weeks ago I interviewed at Saint Vic's, Saint Luke's, and Saint Joseph's. I got the job at Saint Vic's and Saint Luke's I'm taking the job at Saint Vic's." I said "this is really a shock you guys but I can't wait to have you girls in the city and especially Ryan" Jamie said " I think we need a toast. To new friends, new jobs, new homes, and love " everyone said cheers. We didn't stay out much longer we all went back to my place. When we got there Ryan was asleep so I told Aspyn to just let him sleep there for the night since she was coming back in the morning anyway. Jamie and I went to our room to get ready for bed I said " Jamie we should talk" he said "okay what's going on?" I said " I've been having this dilemma with the wedding planning because well your Catholic and I'm not so I'm having a real issue deciding if a Catholic Priest should marry us or if my papaw should since that has always been my dream so I was hoping for your thoughts" he said " One thing I love about our relationship is that we respect each others beliefs honestly as long as it's you walking down the aisle I don't care who marries us" I said "honestly Jamie you are no help what so ever" Jamie said "I'm not much for wedding planning babe" I said "I've come to find that out"
