I always thought I was insane.

I never believed that I would see her again, and most of the time I was repulsed by my schoolboy crush on her. But it never went away, no matter how hard I tried not to think about it.

I was still in love with her.

"Thank you so much, Tyler, really. Sorry, I didn't mean for you to go to all this trouble." She smiled as we walked out of an old, run down Target in the outskirts of Columbus. She held a new pair of black ripped jeans in her hands, just like the ones I'd ruined.

"Don't be. It's my fault, really. And I should be apologizing for both pushing you down and going to this Target, of all Targets," I laughed.

"I was going to ask about that." She perked up an eyebrow.

"Well, I can't really go to super popular places these days, and as you can tell, this is kind of run-down. Right now I'm taking a bit of a break from... my job?" I didn't know how to say it. "the band" or "music" didn't feel right, because I was still doing all that stuff. I was just silent. "The fans are calling it a hiatus. I can't have any online presence and I'm trying to avoid the press as much as possible. The only reason I was out earlier today is because the keys to the van fell out of one of our crew guy's pockets and I had to go find it."

"Couldn't they send someone else to do it?" she inquired. I shrugged.

"Everyone left. I stayed a bit longer to work on Taxi Cab."

Her face brightened. "You're playing Taxi Cab? When was the last time you played it? Like, a few years?"

I nodded, scratching the back of my head. "Yeah. I wanted to bring it back."

She nodded, grinning. "So you guys have really blown up, huh?"

I chuckled and looked down. "You could say that."

"How do you feel about that?" she asked, tilting her head to the side.

"Well—" I opened the passenger side door and she climbed in. I walked around to the driver's side, got in, and started the car. "—It's hard..."

"Naturally," she commented.

"Don't get me wrong, I love the fans. I really do. They've made all of it possible. But there is a lot of pressure, and not everybody understands what I write about." I pulled out of the parking lot and headed down the road.

She nodded. "Yeah, I get that. It's gotta be hard."

I hummed in agreement. "Hey, are you busy right now? Do you need to be anywhere soon?"

She shook her head. "Why?"

"Would you want to go grab a coffee and talk for a bit?" I held my breath, hoping she'd say yes.

She grinned. "I would love nothing more."
