Sasuke stared at the fūinjutsu matrix blankly, gazing upon the strokes of black ink uncomprehendingly.
"So?" Naruto asked impatiently, tapping his toe on the ground as he stood next to his friend with his arms crossed.
"What...?" Sasuke choked out, looking slightly dazed.
Naruto sighed and grabbed a piece of chalk from the desktop.
He went to the flat wall by the side that functioned as a blackboard that they used in presenting their strategies and the like, starting to draw out a familiar space-time seal matrix.
"I used this as the base," Naruto explained, picking up the scroll and holding it up next to the chalk marks on the wall.
Sasuke nodded mutely.
"It primarily stops time in a separate pocket dimension and functions as an advanced storage seal," the blond continued, setting the scroll down on the table.
"Yes, I know. You invented it," Sasuke interjected.
Naruto nodded agreeably.
"That's right. So, by expanding this matrix and branching it out from the kanji for space, time, dimension, pocket and replacing this kanji with the kanji for physical, using linking chains that are necessary to safely alter space-time fūinjutsu to balance it..." the blond spoke as he made the necessary changes to the diagram of the seal on the blackboard, "you will get this."
"The arithmetical calculations-" Sasuke began, only to be cut off by Naruto.
"Yes, but this is not done yet. Add on the kanji for existence, share, life, body, soul, tether, anchor..." as he listed the characters, he drew them in chalk seemingly randomly around the board, "divine, nature and energy."
When the three last kanji joined the rest on the blackboard, Sasuke found his eyes widening in realisation.
Naruto smiled slightly at his friend and then went to branch out several characters from the sub-matrices.
"Healing, chakra, being, whole and...sustenance," the blond listed those kanji at the side, quite obviously separate from the matrix.
Sasuke looked at the five characters for a moment before he nodded contemplatively.
"Ah, yes... Those are needed to define the purpose of the seals. But there's nowhere those..." Sasuke started to point out the flaw, only for Naruto to chuckle, breaking the other's train of thought.
"You forget that I did not join anything yet," he chided the raven-haired male.
"But... to balance-" the Uchiha argued, only for Naruto to interrupt once more.
"Here, here, here, here and here," the Uzumaki stated as he wrote the kanji in their respective places, causing Sasuke's eyebrows to furrow as he tried to understand his friend's thought process to no avail.
"Then join them using sub-chains for high-speed regeneration, endless duplication, poison rejection, normal time flow and astral body separation, adding on my newest inventions, the dual body chain and joined double mind chain and stabilise with the normal link chains..." Naruto explained as his chalk darted across the wall as tiny kanji bloomed across the black surface.
Sasuke squinted at said "newest inventions", only to shake his head.
"All I can make out is that you created an astral body projection of some form, allowing the person to coexist in two dimensions separately and nothing else. It sounds a bit like Obito and Kakashi-sensei's Kamui," he muttered.
