Chapter 29

I got scolded for sneaking out of prom, of course. My mother and the governor yelled at me for hours but I remained silent on my seat, not daring to talk back to any of them.

It's not because I want to steer clear from trouble.

It's because it's not worth arguing anymore. That remarkable dance with Alas makes up for everything. It was worth it.

"Well, aren't you going to talk, young lady?" my mother placed her hands on her hips.

Instead, I gave her a polite smile. Shock registered on her face. I've always been an untamed tigress. I talk when I want to talk. I fight without hesitation. But not now. Certainly not now.

"You can yell at me all you want, mommy. It's my fault, I admit. There's nothing I have to say..."

"You..." she was rendered speechless. "Isabelle-"

"Just go to your bedroom, Isabelle." The governor dismissed me. For the first time since I stepped into this mansion, he did something that really pleased me. "Go to your room."

"Good night, mommy, governor..." wika ko. I gathered my dress and walked towards the grand staircase. This argument would drag on for upcoming days, that I know. But I don't care. Let them lecture me all they want.

I ran to my bed and collapsed, burying my face into the pillow. I giggled and hugged the pillow, grinning like an idiot.

He danced and kissed with me!

I felt like a silly teenager but I couldn't help it. Well, I am a teenager. It's my hormones working up. But it just felt so great I didn't mind being an idiot for a while.

A knock on my door snapped me out from my train of daydreaming.

Leon's worried face came into view.

"What happened-" kumunot ang kaniyang noo nang makita ang aking malumanay na mukha. "Okay. What happened?" ipinagkrus niya ang kaniyang mga braso at tinaasan ako ng kilay. "You don't look like you've been yelled."

"I did." I answered. I couldn't wipe the stupid grin on my face so I just stood there like an idiot in front of Leon. "Yeah. They did yelled at me."

"And? What happened?" naguguluhang tanong ni Leon. "I was worried sick about you-"

"I'm fine, Leon." Ngumiti ako sa kaniya ng sinsero. "See? I'm really fine."

"Belle..."

"Goodnight, Leon." I said cheerfully before shutting the door to his face.

When I heard his retreating footsteps from my bedroom, I ran to my bed again and screamed at my pillow, emptying my stomach of the knots that had been driving me crazy since I left the Ferrer mansion.

This is the first time a boy is actually driving me crazy.

"Are you crazy?" galit na usal ni Alas pagkatapos kong sabihin sa kaniya ang aking plano ngayong araw.

It's been a few days since the sneaking out incident and I'm still grounded. Leon was assigned to watch over me pero palagi niya naman akong pinapakawalan sa tuwing nakikita niya si Mallory.
