So the reader is Draco's twin sister, and you're in your 3rd year.

~Hermione's POV~

I looked past the bookshelf and saw Y/N Malfoy sitting at a table by herself. She was placed into the Slytherin house after a moments hesitation by the Sorting Hat, but I never expected anything different. Ever since I heard her stick up for someone who needed it, behind her brothers back of course, I knew I was in love with her.

The only time she was ever afraid to stick up for what she believed in, which was that everyone was equal, was when she was around Draco. When the twins were together, she became as cold hearted as he was.  And even through that, I know I still love her.

I had been staring at her for a few minutes now, but I just realized she was staring back. When I finally looked away, I knew I was a blushing mess. I couldn't help it though, because the girl I'm in love with was staring at me! I looked back at her, and she motioned me over to the table she was sitting at. I gave her a confused look,  but she kept motioning for me, so I went over to her.

I awkwardly sat by her, setting my stack of books on the table. "You're Hermione Granger, right?" She asked me. We've never really had conversations before, but we make a lot of eye contact during classes, or in the hallways.

"Yes I am. You're Y/N Malfoy?" I asked her, even though I knew she was.

She giggled. "Mhmm. I was wondering if you could help me with my Transfiguration homework? I've been having a little trouble with our newest lesson, and Professor Mcgonagall didn't have time to tutor me. It's okay if you can't.."

"Oh no, of course I can!" I rushed out. "So what's the lesson?" I'm staring to get butterflies in my stomach, and I really hope my blush isn't too noticeable.

"Y/N!" Draco called from across the library. He was walking toward us with a look of anger on his face. "What are you doing with the filthy mudblood?!"

~Your POV~

"I'm sorry Draco, I needed help with Transfiguration.." I looked at Hermione, and she was looking down with tears in her eyes. "I don't see what your problem with her is. She's as much of a wizard as you and I are." I looked him directly in the eyes. "And she may be even more of a witch, I mean... she does get better scores than we do in most classes."

Draco had wide eyes, and was staring at me. He kept glancing at Hermione, who was staring at her feet with a smile on her face, although the tears remained in her eyes. I grabbed her hand and untwined our fingers without looking at her.

"Now I know you won't leave us alone, so we'll be going to her common room so that I can actually get my work done. See you later brother."

We walked to the Grifffindor common room in peace, although I kept glancing at Hermione and she kept glancing at me. Once she said the password, I let go of her hand, then kissed her cheek.

"Listen, Mione... is it alright if I call you that?" She nodded her head, waiting for what I was going to say. "I really like you. I'm (lesbian/bi/pan ((insert other))) and I really like you. I have for a while now, but I know that I'd never be able to be with you because of my family. But I don't care anymore, I lo- I mean, I like you to much. Do you like me back?" I couldn't hide the eagerness in my voice.

Her face turned a bright pinkish red color, and she kept avoiding my eyes. We were stopped right outside the entrance to the Griffindor Common Room, standing there awkwardly. At one point, she ended up looking at my lips for a few seconds, and avoiding my eyes.

"Hermione... do you.. like me back?"  I'm starting to get discouraged by her lack of an answer.

"Y/N, I do like you."  She then reached out for my hand, and walked us into the Griffindor Common Room.

It was basically empty, except for a few others who were desperately trying to study for a test, or trying to finish an assignment before it's due. We settled at a table that was mostly away from everyone else in the room. We spent the rest of the night holding hands and working on different assignments and talking.

~The next day~

I met Hermione in the Courtyard, so that we could get to know each other more. During our free period, when almost everyone else was inside, Hermione and I went walking around the campus, getting to know each other more and more.  We know more about each other's family lives, and a bunch of favourites for each other(favourite food, color, animal, etc.).  I walked her to her class, kissing her on the cheek before she walked in. She was a blushing mess.

I chuckled to myself as I walked down the corridor, towards Transfiguration. I was sure that I was going to get high marks on this assignment.

I really hope this was okay, I actually really enjoyed writing it!  Thanks for the request, and I'll get to writing the next one soon!  Probably not tonight though, because I have plans, but I'll get it out as soon as I can.

'Brown Girl Dreaming' is one of my favourite non-fiction books. I think it might actually be the only non-fiction book I have in my library. It's about the authors life, and it's written as poems instead of chapters.
