It took me a while to find the kitchen after waking up. I tried going to Isabella's room, but she wasn't there so I wandered the huge house myself until I heard loud voices coming from one direction.

Once I walked into the kitchen, a few people glanced my way with curious eyes, but most continued on not even noticing my presence. I didn't want to over stay my welcome, but I was starving. I located the fridge, pulling out some juice and making myself some toast. I sat at the island and ate quietly while scrolling through my phone.

"Hey." I heard someone say, but ignored it.

"Hello..." The voice spoke again making me look up. I looked over and recognized the face of the young boy who opened the door last night.

"Hello." I spoke with a small smile.

"You know witches really shouldn't be shoving werewolves around, we might bite back." He said referring to when I used magic to shove him away last night. I laughed lightly and shrugged.

"You were in my way."

"Whatever." He muttered. "What's your name?"

"Marilynn."

"Right. The Beta Female's twin. She talks about you sometimes." He sat next to me on the island. "My name is Timothy. Please don't call me Timmy, I despise that name." He said with a look of distaste. I laughed and nodded.

"I'll keep that in mind."

We talked a bit more before Isabella walked in, looking ready for the day. She grabbed a cup of coffee before joining Timothy and I.

"Hi Timmy," She spoke. "What's up?"

"I told you not to call me that." He glared at her. I laughed at their exchange.

"Marilynn," I looked over to Izzy smiling warmly. "I'm curious, why were you here last night?"

My smile dropped instantly and I looked down at my hands resting on my lap. Sighing, I looked back up at a concerned Izzy before speaking.

"I got a call last night and... Ms. Rosemary passed away," I spoke softly, getting straight to the point knowing Isabella hated when I wasn't straight forward.

"What?" Izzy said, shocked. Her eyes welled up with tears and she looked ready to break. I quickly came to her side and embraced her.

"I'm sorry, Izzy." I spoke softly. "We'll have to go back and sort things out by the end of the week."

She pulled back and looked at me.

"But what if he...?" She looked alarmed.

"We'll be careful, don't worry." I smiled gently even though I had no plan on how we would deal with the worst case scenario.

I snapped my head over to the loud footsteps just in time to see Liam rush into the kitchen, looking on edge until he saw Isabella. He slowly relaxed and his alarmed eyes turned to concern. I gently let go of Izzy and Liam quickly embraced her.

"What's wrong?" He asked me as Izzy sobbed into his shoulder.

"Uh...Someone close to us, um, passed away." I sighed.

He nodded and held his mate impossibly close to him while pressing his lips to the top of her head. After a few minutes, Izzy calmed down enough for us to discuss when we would be leaving. Liam lead us to his office, adjacent to his Alpha's office. Once we were all seated, Liam in his oversized chair with Izzy on his lap and myself sitting across from them, I spoke.

"Izzy and I will need to go home within the next day or so to sort out the will and funeral. It shouldn't take long, but due to how we left our home town and now that Izzy has shifted, we will need a bit of back up. I'm wondering if you could spare a pack warrior or two?" I ask Liam as he thinks over the situation.

"Very well, Timothy and I will come with you. I believe that kid needs to get out of this pack for once." Liam chuckled before continuing. "On the other hand, since Izzy is a newly shifted wolf and packless, we will need to host the Female Beta ceremony before going." He turns to Izzy and smiles sadly as he notices some stray tears. He takes his thumb and gently wipes a few away before speaking. "I know the ceremony is usually a big deal, some treat it almost like a wedding, but if you're ok with having a smaller one, we could host it tomorrow night and then leave the next morning. How does that sound?"

Isabella smiles slightly and nods. "Sounds good to me, as long as there will be enough food."

We discussed the final details before I said my goodbyes. As I walked towards the office door, I could feel his presence standing outside before hearing the knock. I opened the door to see him looking down at me shocked for a moment before his usual green eyes turned emotionless. I smiled gently before passing by through the small gap he made, but it wasn't wide enough for our shoulders not to brush against each other.

The unexpected sparks flew through my body making me stop in my tracks for a moment to catch my breath. The desire that ran through my body didn't go unnoticed as Ace stood stiffly. I opened my mouth to speak, to ask if we could discuss our situation more, maybe convince him not to reject me, but before I could, he quickly entered the office and closed the door a little too harshly for comfort. I sighed as I regained my composure and continued on my way, envying the fact that Liam couldn't keep his hands off Izzy, while I was stuck with a mate who doesn't even want to acknowledge me.
