The moment I received an urgent call from my sister, I packed my things and took off down the highway. Heading towards the place I never wanted to step foot in again, I was determined. I was sick of letting that annoying mate of mine push me around, so I made a plan. My son was in trouble and not a single, idiotic Alpha will keep me from focusing on my precious baby.

Although I haven't been to the pack in over half a year, I did technically stop by. Whenever I got the chance, I would watch over Adris at night or if he was awake, I would calm him back to sleep. Anything to sped just a few moments with him. I was there in spirit. It would take too much to teleport myself there so often, so instead I would send my spirit to the pack while I was safe in my coven.

I believed it was a good idea to let him grow in the pack, but now I was strongly regretting my decision. He was threatened, my baby boy was put into harms way and I only have one person to blame.

——-

As soon as I walked into the front door, I was tackled to the ground.

"Mary you're home!" The lump of a human cried on top of me.

I shoved them off of me and stood from the ground.

"Nice to see you too, Charlie, but was that really necessary?" I looked over at him and he smiled sheepishly. He looked healthier, happier. He had a glow to him that wasn't there last time I saw him, but I'm glad he's happy here. "Where's the rest of them?"

Charlie became serious and signalled for me to follow. I walked slightly behind him through the house and towards the Alpha's office. A place I did not want to be in again, with the many memories of our relationship tied to that office.

"The pack is on lockdown," Charlie explained. "After what happened yesterday, everyone is being cautious. The Alpha and Beta are still trying to figure out how it all happened."

I nodded and noticed we were standing in front of the large wooden doors. I heard angry muttering on the other side of the door and I could sense multiple people, but the one that stuck out was the one of my mate. I could feel his anger radiating through the door.

"Here we go," I mumble to myself before opening the door and stepping in with Charlie following suit.

A loud growl erupted and I felt the breeze of the book that nearly missed my head before it hit the wall and fell to the ground.

"How dare you-" Ace began speaking in a low menacing voice before he looked over at me, our eyes connecting instantly. "Marilynn... Um..I-I..."

I rolled my eyes and stepped further into the room.

"What a way to be greeted," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

I scanned the room and noticed Liam standing next to Izzy on one side of Ace's desk while she held Adris close to her chest. On the other side, Timothy stood tall and proud as Charlie came to his side. There were also two other's standing in the back, I'm assuming trackers or warriors. Lastly, Ace stood hunched over his desk, his angry attitude now gone and replaced with a look of shock.

I walked over to Izzy, while everyone watched me carefully as if I was about to explode. I gently took Adris into my arms and sat in one of the chairs in front of the desk. Adris giggled and started to tug at my hair gently while I watched him with a small smile. He felt different, something about his aura was off. I looked up and saw everyone still watching, cautiously.

"Can someone please catch me up? We don't have all day here." I asked while looking around to see who would answer.

Luckily, Izzy took the lead.
