"Eli" I shake him.

He let out a pained moan.

Oh God.

Hand shaking I pull my phone out of my purse.

"911, what is your emergency?"

"Hi, someone just collapsed. I need an ambulance."

"Please don't move him. Help will be there shortly. Can I have the address?"

I rattle out Eli's address.

I place a shaky hand on his forehead.

It was cold. So cold.

"Oh God, Please let him be okay" I pray for the first time in years "Oh God, please"

I rock myself as hot tears spill down my cheeks.

He's going to be okay. He's going to be okay.

I hear sirens and sigh in relief.

"Do you hear that baby? Help is on the way."

I stand up to disarm the security system.

The ambulance parks and men in uniforms ran in with a gurney.

They carefully lift Eli up and placed him in the gurney.

"What happened?" one of them asks as they carry him out.

"We were arguing, he started groaning and moaning, then he just collapsed."

"Ma'am, what are you to the patient?"

"I'm his..." I'm going to raise this baby believing it's father is dead, because the minute I walk out of here that's what you're going to be to me. Dead.

I stop walking.

God please don't let that be the last words I say to him.

My eyes stings as tears fill my eyes.

"Ma'am?"

"I'm his girlfriend."

At the hospital, he was immediately taken to a private ward.

I pace the hallway praying furiously.

A doctor walks to me "Are you family? Before we start the surgery we're going to need his family to sign the consent form"

"What? But I'm his girlfriend"

"I'm sorry but it doesn't work that way" he says walking away.

I quickly take my phone out and dialed Neil's number.

Please pick up. Please pick up.

"Finally grew the balls to tell Eli he's going to be a father?"

"I did Neil" I say hoarsely.

"What's wrong?" Neil asks.

"We had an argument, he collapsed. They need you to sign the form of consent before they can perform any surgery on him"

"He what?. Oh God. I'm on my way" she hangs up.

I continue my pacing. Oh God, please.

A female doctor approached me "Hi. I'm Dr Whitcomb, Mr Hunt's Oncologist."

"What?" I ask confused.

"Can I see you in my office?"

"sure"

"Please have a sit" she points to one of the visitors chairs.

I sit own opposite her desk "Can you tell me what's going on?"
