Alexis' pov:

I put my book down and zipped to the door when I heard a knock on it, I was in my PJ's which were just grey sweat pants and a white tank top.

I smiled at Max before dropping it she seemed a bit.... Troubled I might say.

"Can I come in?" She asked.

"It is 10pm in the night."

"Is that's a no?"

"No that's not a no." I stepped out of the way while she stepped in and closed the door before zipping around to clean up the living room. "Take a seat, want water or something?"

"Water maybe." I quickly got it for her while sitting next to her on the couch.

"Is something wrong?" I asked, laying a hand on her thigh in a comforting way as she shrugged.

"I was just reading and read about something called Deathless Spirits?"

"Oh yeah I heard about those a few times, Kark was one but only had ten visions in total around me, I did have a potential courtier from when my people were around but he was murdered before it went further and well seems he loved me enough to end up a Spirit." I caught the glass that slipped from her hands and set it on the coffee table without spilling a drop. "Max? Are you okay?"

"Have you ever been called Hala?" I was taken aback.

"I euh that is my name but as language changed it became Alexis and I liked the new way of saying and writing is so I stuck with Alexis."

"Did ever get man handled buy a black haired vampire woman in a red dress?"

"She is the one that killed Kark."

"Oh my god I am him." I was a bit lost and I guess it's visible on my face. "I keep seeing things, the world around me changes, the first thing I saw was that woman looking at me while holding you by your throat against the ground and me with a knife in my stomach before she jumped at me, when I fainted I saw that clearly with people screaming in fear and running, I always get these visions, I'm echoing the voice of a male, I was running after you in the forest and a vision came, I was holding a baby boy and when I called your name the voice said Hala"

I tilted my head to the side, well this is unexpected.

She stood up but I pulled her in my lap and hugged her against me, trapping her arms by her side but I didn't care.

"First of all you aren't him, you are your own person, having a Deathless Spirit as a wolf doesn't make you who you are but you do, if it did work in that way it would mean he'd have been my mate, not even the person before him would have been, only the wolf is the Spirit, the human part changes, you just might be better, your body knowing things without having an idea why you do, muscle memory of the wolf's other lives."

"But my wolf is female."

"Kark couldn't shift, he was as good as a human for that reason, he had a wolf but they never connected until he died to become part of the mind of the already present Spirit, the first person was like me, from my people, we don't have wolves but like two sorts of consciousness, one your own and another seemingly being your gut feeling and instinct so then it didn't have a gender before it took the form of a wolf but unfortunately for Kark it was female keeping him from having the bond between them since wolves were a new race at the time, nowadays if a male is born with a female wolf they will be fine but at the time it meant you were as good as a human."

"Promise me you aren't being like this because I might actually be two people you loved or they loved you."

"Max listen, a Spirit will always search love with the same person, that's partially the reason for the visions, the other person will also be more attracted to the Spirit but that doesn't mean it's an universal law, I would have chosen the first person from this line as a mate if I was to fall in love with the wolf and always find a new mate each time it reincarnated but we don't fall for the wolves but the human counterpart meaning even if you weren't in the line of this Spirit you'd have been mine and I'd be yours."

I could feel her relax in my arms.

"I know stuff about the third but can you tell me about the someone before him?"

"Sure.... So was named Haral which became Harold nowadays, he was blond with red eyes as my people were all red eyed, I didn't love him more than a crush at the time, there was Halim which is Cain today who was his older brother, both fighting their way for my heart but I was only willing to let one of them run after me because only one started to interest me, I told Halim I didn't wish to be his and he left in anger after hitting me with Haral coming to the rescue as I was one of the youngest of my people and one of the few pure blooded kids that survived past birth..... Halim left the pack not long after that, never to be see again, no one knows what happened but two weeks after that Haral's necklace was found next to a pile of burning cinders, murdered, I guess his last thought was of me for this chain to have started."

"Do you like the 'Ha' syllable in your pack? Hala, Haral, Halim." I chuckled and shrugged.

"It wasn't uncommon for a pack to have names based of each other at the time."

"There was more pack like yours?"

"No but when I was born the wolves and cold ones had just branched off from our family tries but the naming tradition stayed, like even back with Turuk, his wife was name Tura and his father Takou while his father's wife was Turoka"

"Oh okay I get it."

I spent a lot of time answering questions of my time and other times too until later in the night, she fell asleep with her head in my neck as she leaned back against me.

I let her be, messing gently with her hair.

"Well this is interesting." I said with a smile.
