what little food grace and troye were slowing coming to a stop. grace was becoming worser by the minute and troye couldn't do anything to about it but try and keep her talking.

troye himself was becoming weak himself. moving his limbs required a more than necessary amount of strength.

the dreadful sound of boots clicking echoed through the long empty hall before stopping  in front of troye's cell and stooping to his level. she stared at him for a little bit smiling to herself. troye glanced over at her before looking back at the ceiling.

"you might as well tell me who you are," troye said. "i'm good as dead at this point.

the girl doesn't say anything but laugh. troye rolls his eyes before turning his head to the wall. "if you're not going to tell me who you are you might as well leave."

the girl stood up and brushed off her jacket. "your boyfriend has been looking for you," she looks over her shoulder at grace. "and her. it's a shame though... you'll be dead before they get here. or at least close to it."

troye doesn't say anything.

the girl shrugs before looking over her shoulder and nodding over to grace's cell. to men, bigger then troye and grace combined walked down the hall and opened her door. they picked her weak body up before throwing her into the cell with troye. troye slowly sat up when her heard the thud, he looked over at grace before looking at the three people on the other side of the cell.

"if you're gonna die might as well be together." the girl said before leaving.

troye crawled over to grace before laying her head in his lap and propping the two of them against a wall. troye moved her dirty tangle hair out of her face and rubbed the side of her cheek.

"t-troye?" grace said.

troye nodded.

"what am i- am i dead?"

"no," troye said his voice cracking. "they're coming jacob and-and your friend. just hold on, just hold on for them, okay?"

grace smiled as a tear rolled down her cheek. even to what could be the end of their lives troye had hope... grace just wish she felt the same. she knew it wasn't long before she would draw her last breath. although despite the horrors she's been through this was oddly the most amazing time of her life. she'd met troye (despite the harsh circumstances) and she got to call him a friend, the only friend she's truly had. she gave him hope, even now.

grace shook her head with a sad smile. "if i...don't make it-." she said looking up at troye.

troye shook his head, tears were starting to fall at a quicker pace now. "you're going to-."

"shut up and-and listen for once," she said. "make sure angelina is okay."

"grace i-."

grace looked up with a smile and tears falling down her face. "troye please."

"yeah..." troye sniffed. "i promise."

grace nodded and grabbed troye's hand with her own, both of them were practically skin and bone but grace's felt as if she was a walking corpse.

"could-could you sing to me?" grace said.

troye nodded. "of course i will," troye said before wiping his nose.  "what do you want me to sing?"

"fault in our stars." grace said.

troye nodded and cleared his throat. it was scratchy and partially sore but he was going to do this. this was probably his last moment with grace and if she wanted him to sing he was going to sing.

he started the song, his eyes not leaving hers. grace had a smile on her face as she hummed along with him. his voice cracked on a few notes and at certain points he had to stop singing but he pushed through. as the song continued troye noticed grace's movements becoming slower and slower.

"....don't give it up just yet stay ground for one more minute..." troye sang.

despite the fact troye wanted to scream he powered through the song even if he was watching the girl below him die slowly. and as if the world or the gods he didn't believed it willed it so he uttered the last phrase of a song:

"i just wanna see the stars with you..."

grace's eyes closed and the grip she had on troye went limp.

"...with you..."

troye looked down at grace, she was dead. troye lifted her limp body and held it close. he cried, he cried until all that could come out was choked sound, he cried until his head hurt and he felt like he wanted to throw up.

he was angry, angry that someone like grace had to been put through all of this. he looked at her wrist and remembered when she told him that each time she was raped, it was fifteen... and it angered him.

"you guys are going to pay for what you did," troye yelled. "you hear me, i'm going to kill you. i'm going to kill you!"

when jacob walked through the door of the station all eyes went to him and two officers instantly stopped him. jacob put his hands up and stepped back.

"i'm not here for snow," he says. "i just want to talk to the lieutenant, chief, or whatever you call them here."

the two officers look to each other before making a path. jacob smiled awkwardly before walking between the two and heading to the chiefs office. the two officers were following closely behind before jacob turned around.

"seriously guys," jacob said. "i'm not going to hit him... i just want to talk."

the two officers leave with skeptical looks on their faces.

jacob waited for them to be completely out of sight before he walked into the chiefs office. the chief was short and a little chubby but despite his looks the man could be intimidating if he wanted to be.

"what do you want bix," he says looking up. "come to slap me too?"

"i think katherine snow is behind troye's kidnapping." jacob blurted out.

the chief stood up and walked around the desk. "proof?"

jacob handed his laptop over. "for starters her real name is lillian snow," jacob said. "and she has a record. katherine snow was a model that died in a shooting."

the chief looked through the pages jacob had pulled up before closing the laptop and walking over to his window. he looked out and saw "katherine" before quickly shutting the blinds and turning to jacob.

"you've got a lot of nerve coming in here with this."

jacob crossed his arms. "you would've had me thrown out if you weren't suspicious of her either."

"you're right," the older man said. "thing is some of my guys have been acting strange since this snow showed up and i had never been able to put my finger on it."

"then help me," jacob said.

the man sighed. "so then... what's next?"
