Money was constantly in short supply for the presley family when Elvis was growing up. As things changed and he started to make his fortune, one of his first impulses was to help those less fortunate than himself.

Staging benefit concerts was one means of doing this. Aloha from Hawaii in 1973 was his most famous live fundraiser but there were three other particularly notable occasions where Elvis decided to give something back to the people who made him into a superstar.

Elvis believed strongly that his talent was a gift from God and felt blessed to have been singled out to be a star. In return, he worked tirelessly with the aim of making sure that as many people as possible shared in his good fortune.
