'There used to be a little stump down there by the gate where Elvis would stand for fans to take pictures. And he'd sign autographs for two or three hours.
But it would cause traffic to get so bad, they'd have to call the cops. In fact, there were a lot of wrecks while Elvis was down at the gate. So he had to stop because people around there complained. I think '71 was the last year he did it.
One time, a really pretty lady was standing there looking at Elvis, and he walked over and kissed her. Well, when he done that, she ran right out into traffic.
Vester had to go and catch her. She just went crazy.'
