Broken 💔

Chapter 3

A few hours has passed and Steven is laying in a hospital bed. Everyone was eventually able to enter the room and stay with him. Greg made it as well. He sat the closest to the bed since it is his son

He sulkingly held his son's hand as tears rolled down his face. Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl were crying too. They hated to see Steven like this. Especially when they were like the mother figures he never had

Pearl eventually stood up and placed a hand on Greg's shoulder. "I'm so sorry this happened Greg."

Greg just mustered out a sigh. "It's not your fault Pearl. It's nobody's fault. But what's going to happen now?!"

Garnet quickly interjected. "We don't know. Not even my future vision can help. All we can do is hope for the best." Greg firmly nodded back at her and silence filled the room yet again

That is until the doctor walks back in. "Mr. Universe, please come with me for a minute." Greg proceeded to follow the doctor out of the room, anticipating the worst. Connie's mom had to work on another patient so another doctor took over for her. But she was still close by to keep an eye on her daughter

But for now, she wouldn't cause too much trouble. She was sound asleep in a chair along with Lapis. A blanket was covering both of them as they softly snored. The rest of the gems were too worried sick to do anything. Even Amethyst couldn't eat the snacks she found in the cafeteria

Not only did they have Steven to worry about but they were haunted by the sight of Steven's gem reforming. They never thought it would happen or if it could even be done. But it can and it did happen. What happened wasn't what they expected. They always thought if it did happen then Pink would come back. But it just turned into another Steven

None of them could wrap their heads around it. Especially Pearl since she was the one that was closest to Pink. She thought she would finally get to see her again. But it wasn't meant to be

All the memories started flooding into her head. She leaned forward in her seat and cupped her hands over her mouth with her elbows resting on her knees. Garnet took note of this as Pearl started visibly shaking. She wanted to comfort her friend so she gently placed a hand on Pearl's shoulder

Although it wasn't the reaction she was expecting. Pearl immediately snapped back to reality and nearly jumped out of her seat

"Pearl, it's okay. It's just me. I'm here." Pearl took a deep breath and layed her head on Garnet's shoulder. Tears continued to stream down her face as Garnet lightly petted her head

Greg finally walked back into the room with the news from the doctor. And to everyone's surprise, Greg was actually smiling

"He's going to be okay!" He lightly chuckled to himself. "He said with enough fluids in, Steven should wake up by tomorrow." Suddenly a weight was lifted off of everyone. It felt like even the room got brighter. Everyone was laughing and hugging each other

Garnet gave Greg a big hug and said "You should go and get some rest. We'll stay here with Steven."

"Okay, I trust you." Greg grabbed his keys and drove back towards the temple. Meanwhile, the gems woke Connie up and she went home as well

The gems sat there in silence all night. Waiting for Steven to awaken
