A week had passed and Steven was able to get discharged from the hospital. He can now walk with a cane. He had a bit of a limp but he could get around fine. When he walked through the door, he was greeted with a surprise. The gems put together a party to celebrate his arrival

They shouted simultaneously. "Welcome home Steven!"

"Wow! Thanks everyone!" He gave everyone a big hug

Everybody was talking, laughing, and enjoying the food laid out. Even some Beach City citizens showed up. Including Connie and her family. She was so excited to see her best friend

"Steven! How are you feeling?"

"Oh I'm great! Never been better." Connie could tell he was lying. She's heard that tone in his voice before

"Steven?" She put her hands on her hips and frowned at him

"Okay fine! I do feel better but not better. I can walk fine but something keeps bothering me. Not on my body but in my mind. I don't know how to explain it." Connie looked down at her feet

"I think I know how you feel." Steven gasped. "That's how I felt before I met you. I was so alone and sad. I didn't know what to do with myself except play violin and do homework. But then you showed up and showed me all these crazy things I didn't even know existed!"

Steven gently grabbed Connie's hand. They both stood there slightly blushing. "You know, you did the same for me. I didn't know much about human life but you helped me. No questions asked. So thank you Connie for being there for me."

"Thank you to you as well Steven." They walked off to enjoy the party while holding hands
