Chapter 22 (Finale)

The next morning, everyone made their way to where Steven was held. They all got into their positions. Pearl glanced through the window to make sure the coast was clear. Once it was, Pearl gave Lapis a thumbs up

And just like that, Lapis flew through the roof while holding Peridot. A moment later, Connie kicked down the door. Steven's head shot up. "Connie! Lapis! Peridot!" While that trio was distracting the girls, the OG Crystal Gems jumped through the windows

Steven felt overjoyed to see them. "Mom!"  Tears of joy ran down his face. So did Pearl as soon as she turned her head

"Steven!" She instinctively ran over and hugged him tight. Both wanted to stay like this forever. However there's still one problem. Well, two problems. Steven had a chain around his ankle that was tied to a furnace. And there was still the matter of the teenage girls. Amethyst approached bird mom. "Uhh Pearl? I hate to break this up but we need to get him out of here!"

"Oh right." Pearl let go and sliced through the chain with her spear. Steven managed to wiggle his way out but he couldn't hardly walk. Those girls really did a number on him. He was covered in bruises and scars 

Before they had a chance to grab the boy and run, the girls were pushed down the stairs by Lapis and Connie. One of them saw that Steven was free and sprinted towards them. "Where do you think you're goin?!" The three gems charged in leaving Steven in the corner

She dodged every single one of their attacks. She backflipped over Garnet and kicked her from behind. She then grabbed Amethyst's whip mid air and flung her across the room. Pearl tried to hit her but the teen ended up punching her in the stomach and did a sweeping leg kick. When Pearl was down, she placed one foot on top of her. "Looks like you lost."

The other one tried to restrain Steven. She pinned him to the ground and grabbed a pair of scissors. She smirked at him. "This is gonna be fun." She slowly began to cut his shirt in half

Steven used all his strength to break free but it was no use. The scissors inched their way up to his chest. Then out of the corner of his eye, he saw the one girl grab a knife and was about to threaten Pearl. In an instant, adrenaline filled his body

Suddenly his eyes turned pink and he had diamonds for pupils. He pushed with all his might. "LEAVE HER ALONE!" He managed to get one arm free and punched the girl directly in her face. He paused for a second to process what he just did. Then a mysterious glow surrounded his body. His gem miraculously appeared back in his naval

Steven ran and tackled the remaining girl to the ground. Pearl immediately stood up. "Amethyst toss me your whips!" She did so and Pearl tied up both teen girls. "Steven, you have your gem back!"

Steven pulled up his shirt and looked down. "Oh my gosh! You're right!" He jumped up with excitement 

Pearl gave a sorrow-filled smile. "I guess you have your biological mother back..."

Steven shook his head and smiled. "All I have is her powers. You're my real mom." Pearl felt overjoyed to hear him say that. Tears formed in her eyes

A few minutes later, Lapis appeared inside the house. "Well, everything has been cleaned up now." She stared at Pearl for a while. Pearl suddenly grabbed both her hands and they interlocked fingers

Everything was still for a minute. Then Pearl instinctively leaned in for a kiss. Lapis was startled at first but soon leaned into it. The two held it for 5 seconds before releasing. The gems blushed and smiled at each other

Everyone soon went back home and Steven got the help and support he needed

But it wouldn't be the end of his journey
