Chapter 19

The next morning Greg had filed a police report in hopes of finding his lost son. Amethyst got a hold of Connie who was utterly devastated

Meanwhile Pearl had become very distant and was constantly training. Every day she would go to the Sky Ruins and fight her holo Pearls. That way she can be prepared to get her baby back

One day, Amethyst decided to go check on her. Pearl was in the middle of another training session when she saw her. As Pearl was swinging her sword, Amethyst grabbed her whip and latched onto her wrist

Pearl was a bit annoyed and dropped her sword. Amethyst released her grip and tried to reach out. "Hey P? Maybe you should get some rest."

Pearl sighed and didn't even look her in the eyes. "Every moment we waste is a moment where we won't get Steven back."

"We all want Steven back but you need to take a break every once in a while."

Pearl clenched her fists and looked Amethyst dead in the eyes with tears streaming down her face. "WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR BREAKS! MY SON HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED AND GOD KNOWS WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING TO HIM! WE NEE-NEED TO SAVE HIM!" She began shaking and breathing heavily 

Amethyst was bewildered but also felt bad for her. She simply gave Pearl a big embrace. A few minutes later, they went back to the temple and Amethyst forced her to lay down

They simply layed on the floor in Steven's room. Pillows were scattered all around to provide cushion. Amethyst layed on her back and wrapped an arm around Pearl. Pearl then leaned in and rested her head on Amethyst's chest

Amethyst gently rubbed her back to soothe her. Pearl was still shook up, metaphorically and literally. She still had slight tremors in her hands. Her eyes were very red and glassy

Pearl didn't want to sleep but the exhaustion was getting to be too much. Her eyes got heavy and she couldn't keep them open any longer. She slowly drifted asleep with Amethyst still holding her. Amethyst was too worried about her so she didn't bother to sleep. She layed there in silence and stared up at the ceiling 

About 30 minutes later, Garnet came out of her room and into the living room. She spotted the two gems upstairs and decided to check on them. Amethyst looked up at her with a blank expression. There was a moment of silence before Garnet said something 

"It's okay Amethyst, I'll take it from here." Amethyst smiled and nodded

Garnet bent down and picked up Pearl in her arms. Once Amethyst was free, she stood up, stretched, and headed towards the kitchen. Garnet gently cradled Pearl and carefully set her down in Steven's bed. She pulled a blanket over her and lovingly rubbed her arm

That night, Pearl had a dream about her kid. She was in the kitchen when she heard a familiar voice 

".......Mom?"
