Chapter 40: FINALE

Adorable very tiny feet in black Sandlers walked so cute one step at a time though trying to hasten his pace along the long corridor. He pushed his walker with more force and aggressively tapped a button so the music can come on but it didn't. He pressed it even harder and waited for his nursery rhyme to come on. He quickly ran out of patience and collapse on his heavy pampers with a loud wail. His very early morning happiness has refuse to come on.

He shrilled even louder so as to get people's attention. He had played by himself for a whole hour, so he was bored anyways.
Just then the back door opened and in came Maryam Waheeda. He looked at her and shouted "mama. Ham hammmmm"

Waheeda ran to him and picked him up. "Ayya Baba na sorry." She cooed till he stopped crying.

She entered the first room and found mummy sleeping on the prayer mat. Mummy lazily opened her eyes. "Waheeda, awari na? "

"Uhmm" she nodded. "I just came in and found this boy crying. Where is Biba?"

"She's probably sleeping in the room." Mummy replied.

Waheeda went to Biba's room only to find it empty. She was about to leave when she heard the sound of rushing water coming from the bathroom.

"Habiba, are you bathing?" She asked.
"Uhmm" Habiba replied with a murmur.

She went ahead to make tea for the one year old. They were almost done taking the tea when Habiba appeared in the kitchen.

"Wow. Wallahi Adda you're the only one he takes tea from. If any other person gives him tea he cries and throws up." Habiba explained. She went to his face to scold him. "You this little mouse. It's when you see her that you tend to forget everything you dislike koh." She pointed a finger at him, scolding him with a smile on her face.

Ishaq giggled. "Mama." He muttered. They couldn't help but laugh.

Waheeda tried giving him the rest of his tea but he refused. "Now because you're here he won't take the tea again." She complained.

He struggled to get out of her hold. He got down from her laps and walked three stepped before he collapsed on the floor. He quickly got on his four and crawled out of the kitchen.

"Wallahi I love this boy. Only if they would give him to me." Waheeda sighed. Biba just smiled at her.

"But Ilham acts like she wants to swallow him" she continued. Fatima's sister Ilham had been the one taking care of Ishaq since her mother brought him home to Benin. He sees her as a mother too. This was the second time he was visiting his father in a year. The first time they came with his whole maternal family and now it's only him and Ilham.

"And Hamma Moh is obsessed I tell you. He literally sleeps with him almost every day. Daddy this, daddy that. Even when someone is going out he will find money and give them. Please buy this and that for my baby." Biba laughed and adjusted her glasses.
