It was a nice day today. The sun was beaming brightly and it made the little snow on the ground shine. I was on my way to a coffee shop to meet up Jess. Jess has always been there for me since freshman year. She's always been there for me when I needed her the most.
I walk into the coffee shop and see Jess waving to me.
"Alice!"
I walk towards her and give her a hug.
"It's nice to see you Jess!"
We both sat down .
"Let me see the ring!"
I put my left hand to her and she widens her eyes seeing the ring.
"You lucky girl. I'm so happy for you."
I smile looking at my hand.
She pushes a coffee cup to me and we start to catch up on things.
"Are you going to our high school reunion?"
"I saw the invitation, so I might. I have to ask Jin if he wants to go."
"Ah, it's in 2 weeks. Aren't you excited to see everybody?"
Memories of high school started to come back to me.
"A little."
Jess was smiling then she had a realization. Her smile become straight.
"Oh did you hear the news?"
I give her a questioning look.
"What news?"
She sighs and she has a sad look on her face.
"Remember Jimin?"
My mind was trying to find some memory of that name.
"Jimin? You mean the Jimin? The soccer player?"
She nods her head.
"Yeah, he was found dead 2 days ago. It apparently was a suicide."
I gasp and covered my mouth from being shocked.
"Oh my god. I saw that on the news! Do you know why he took his life?"
She shook her head.
"They didn't say, no note, no nothing."
I start to feel chills on my body. He was such a happy person and I couldn't ever see him take his own life.
"Have you talked to Melissa?"
"No, she told me they were supposed to go on a cruise together next month. She said he was so happy and enthusiastic about going. She doesn't know what went wrong. Like why would he plan a trip and just do that?"
My hand was covering my mouth. It was such a shock. Knowing someone you knew just take his life was shocking, but we both already knew the feeling.
We both were quiet for a minute, sipping our coffee.
I look up to Jess and she looks to me.
"Remember..."
I knew who she was going to mention.
"Taehyung Kim?"
Why did she bring his name up?
"Yeah I do."
A sense of guilt fills me. Jess sighs.
"I couldn't believe that. I cant believe he did that to himself."
"I know, it's so sad."
She places her hand onto mine.
"I know you must've been so sad. He was so close to you."
I nod my head nervously.
"Let's not talk about this sad news."
"Oh okay alright. So what are your plans for your wedding?"
"Well I I'm taking off work in a week. So I'm going to plan and spend time with Jin during that time."
"Oh, how long are you taking off work?"
"A month and a half."
"Wow so long."
"I earned it."
She just nods and the rest of the time we just start to talk about life in general.
"Well Jess, I'm going to go home and take a nap before work, you know I work late."
We both get up and hug each other.
"I'll talk to you next time girl. Thanks for coming to have coffee with me."
"Anytime Jess, text me!"
"Love you girl!"
We both exit the establishment and I went home to rest before a long night of work.
