I walk up the steps to the third floor of the apartment complex. The hallways reeked of cigarette smoke. The ceiling is peeling off and everything seemed run down. I reached the Mrs. Jeons apartment and I knocked on the door.
It takes about a minute for someone to open the door.
"Oh Jin! You're here, please come in."
I walk inside their place and take off my shoes. I look around to see the place was very small and a bit messy.
"I'm so sorry for the mess. I don't have time to clean."
"Oh, no it's fine. Don't worry about it."
She smiles and closes the door behind her.
"I have to leave for work right now, but would you like something to drink?"
She deeply sighs and looks towards the direction of a room door, which I assume is his room.
"He's in his room. Here, let me get him to come out."
She walks towards his room and knocks on it twice.
"Jungkook, my son, you're old classmate is here, Jin."
There was no response for a couple of seconds.
She knocks on it again.
"Jungkook, dear, please open the door. He came all the way here to visit you."
Again no response.
Mrs. Jeon, still looking at the door, takes a deep breathe and forces a smile to me.
"Jin, I have to leave for work. Just try to knock a few more times. If he doesn't come out, then it's fine. We could try another day when I don't have to work."
