Chapter 10:Should we stay or should we go?

A day later....

After having to fight tooth and nail to survive the zombie horde,we safely get a distance away from that neighborhood.

"So after all of that..are we still going to the quarantine pointe?"Axel asked from the passenger.

"Yea as soon as we get some gas and look to see what else we can find in these cars" I say as I pull up to a highway full of deserted cars.

"Be careful guys because these cars could be our savior or our deaths. And don't use guns so we don't attract anymore of those bastards."old man joe says as he pulls out a machete from it sheath on his pant leg.

"He's right,we need to be cautious. Also candace,you stay in the car with astrid."I say as I take my knife out

"Why does she always have to stay away from the dangerous stuff?" Astrid asked looking up at me with curiosity

"Because candace isn't the best at killing pombies yet and we haven't had the chance to teach her how to kill them but I promise that she will keep you safe no matter what." I say while I bend down and move her hair out of the way.

"Ok I believe you" she says as she slips away with candace

"Wow you have a way with her.have you thought of "adopting her"?" Kennedy asks me as we walk towards two cars that are next to each other.

"I mean I have but I thought she was already adopted." I say as I stop and look at her

"No she doesn't have a bond with any of us like that so we decided to just protect her and keep her safe.but she likes you and axel,maybe you too should adopt her?" She says as she wiggles her eyebrows.

"I don't know,I would adopt her but I'm not sure about him I mean does he even like kids?" I say

" there's only one way to find out."she says as she pushes me towards axel.

"Hey um I was thinking of adopting Astrid and I was wondering if you would be her father?" I asked him shyly

"Yeah sure I love Astrid so yeah,she deserves a chance at a good life and if having parents with help a little bit then sure,as long as she's ok with it."he says

After I talked to axel,we continued looking through the cars and found the things we needed plus extra things we might need in the future.

HOURS LATER.....

After hours of looking through the cars we finally decided to head back to the car and head to the quarantine zone.

"Here we are guys.it looks like it's still up and running." I say as I park and get out

We walk towards the two soldiers guarding the door

"State your business!" The first one said

"We just need shelter and a safe place to call home." Axel says to the guy with his hand in the air

"Sir,there's more survivors.what do we do with them?" The second officer asks

"Affirmative.you may go in" the second officer says as he moves out of our way

"Ok guys,here's the beginning of the rest of our lives" candace says happily as we entered the sanctuary with hope in our eyes that we were safe at last......
