You must be magical, because I've fallen under your spell.

"So let me love you, baby let me love you~" Sirius sang, slightly off tune as he ran away from two angry-looking professors.

"Sirius Black, I swear on Merlin's grave, get back here!" panted Flitwick. Sirius flipped him off and continued running along the bleachers.

"Let's shut off this darn thing..." muttered a sweaty Slughorn, briskly walking over to the radio. When he couldn't shut it off, he grabbed a textbook from a nearby student and hit it repeatedly.

Kat couldn't help but laugh as he ran. She was obviously flattered and thrilled that he actually liked her. If this didn't prove it, then what would? She instantly forgave him. But she wasn't going to tell him that.

Sirius continued to show off his dance skills, shimmying and spinning around the bleachers while somehow avoiding the professors. He glanced over at the field and locked eyes with the blonde-haired girl. He winked at her and blew her a kiss. It was a surprise to everyone that Kat didn't roll her eyes or scowl.

"KAT, WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME?" Sirius roared into the megaphone. There was a hesitation, then Kat emphatically nodded her head. "SHE SAID YES!"

"Too bad you have detention this Saturday!" shrieked Flitwick, running to help his colleagues.

"Yes! Finally!" Peter cheered loudly. He, Peter, and Marlene were standing by the bleachers for moral support. "I knew those two would get together."

"Sirius finally managed to not mess up." Marlene said. "I don't know if I should be happy or scared something's gonna go wrong."

After a few more minutes of evasion, the professors managed to grab Sirius and the Ravenclaw quidditch team half-heartedly applauded his performance. He was still a Gryffindor after all.

"She freaking broke up with me!" James flopped on his bed.

Remus looked up from the homework he was catching up on. "Why are you surprised?"

"You aren't?"

"Not really. You guys had nothing in common and she looked bored every time you spoke."

"What?!"

"Just admit it. You only dated her for her looks. Or you wanted to get over a certain someone?"

"That's preposterous!" James sat up. "I had real feelings for her... and I never liked Evans."

"Sure, James." Remus sighed.

"Fine. I did. But she didn't like me. I'm over it."

"You totally don't blush every time you go near Lily. You didn't leave Bianca to care for Lily at the party because you were worried about her. You didn't ask out Bianca out in front of Lily just to make her jealous." Remus said sarcastically. James stayed silent, so Remus continued more gently "You did it subconsciously. It's clear you still like Lily Evans."

"So what? I just lied to myself?"

"Maybe you did like Bianca. But James, I know you. You also liked Lily. And you can be with her now." Remus decided to not to mention the rumors about Bianca moving on quite quickly.

"No I shouldn't... she and Bianca are friends. That's wrong. Even if I did or even if I wanted to, what if she rejects me? Again?" James said, his hazel eyes wide.

"Honestly, I don't know. Why is everyone coming to me for relationship advice?"

"You were the one giving me unsolicited advice about how I feel!"

"I just wanted you to be honest to yourself! Look, all I can tell you is that your relationship with Bianca is over. Now you have the chance to go after the girl you really connected with."

Rock music drifted softly out of the newly repaired radio. Sirius had "reparo"-ed the book-shaped indent Slughorn had caused. He was leaning against a tree near the Black Lake. Kat was sitting next to him, nodding her head along to the song. She had invited him along to do homework outside. He had to take what he got.

"I should do this." Kat says, breaking the silence between them.

"Do what?" Sirius said, looking up from his prank planning.

"This." Kat motioned to the radio.

"Start a band?"

"Yeah, start a band. My father would love that." Kat snorted. Kat gazed out at the lake, twirling her quill absentmindedly. Sirius studied her face as she daydreamed.

"You don't strike me as the type that would ask your father's permission." Sirius said putting his paper and quill down. She turned to look at him.

"Oh, so now you think you know me?" Kat gave him a teasing smile.

"I'm gettin' there." Sirius smiled back. He placed his hand on top of hers. Kat stared at him appraisingly and hid her smile. "So do you play?"

"I've played piano since I was little and then I taught myself guitar recently."

"You just keep getting cooler." Sirius said earnestly and Kat let out an uncharacteristic giggle. "I've always wanted to learn, but my parents hate anything that makes people happy so it never happened."

"Well I can teach you. It's easy. It's also the perfect way to say 'suck it' to your parents after everything they've put you through."

"You're funny, Kitty Kat." Sirius laughed. "Or should I call you just Kitty"

"Don't call me that." To think, Sirius was turning out to be pretty sweet before the nickname.

"Do you like 'babe' better? Or 'sweetheart' maybe?"

"Shut up." Kat said as heat rose up to her cheeks. How was he so easily able to fluster her?

"So what's up with your dad? He seems like a pain in the ass." Sirius said, shifting the subject away from himself.

"No, not really. He just wants me to be someone I'm not." Kat said dully.

"And who's that?"

"Bianca."

"Ah... Bianca. No offense or anything, I mean, I know everyone digs you're sister. But, um... She's without."

Kat grinned. "She's okay. I just wish it didn't feel like we have to compete. Dad kept comparing us and now we can't even have a conversation without arguing"

"Yeah, me and Regulus don't usually get along either. He's always been my parent's favorite."

"Well, I say do what you want. Don't live up to other people's expectations, live up to your own."

"You could be an inspirational speaker." Sirius said. He leaned closer to her, gently brushing a golden strand of hair that had come loose from her bun behind her ear. Kat could feel herself falling for him and she decided to stop trying to fight it.

Green eyes met grey ones and for a moment they just stared at each other. Then Sirius haltingly leaned forward. Kat couldn't help but kiss him back.
