NUMB TO THE FEELING
Today was the party and it was finally fucking Friday. I had gotten my usual morning ride from Beverly where she only talked about me and Dante being together. Me and Beverly began walking into the school. Immediately, Dante ran up to us "Hey, al." "Hey, Dante." I replied and smiled. "I'll leave you two babes alone." Beverly said before walking to the senior hallway. I blushed in embarrassment, "sorry about Bev, she's a little uh.." "Nah, it's okay she's cool." He said, what a sweetheart. 'Why are you being so fast? Remember what happened last time?' I thought. My smile fell down a little, and I gripped my backpack strap a little tighter trying to distract myself. "Hey, you okay?" Dante said, noticing the sudden silence. "Oh yeah I'm okay, so when should I be ready for that very amazing party?" I said emphasizing amazing in a joking tone. "Hmm, I'll pick you up at 7:50." He stated. "You can drive?" I questioned, seeing as we were just sophomores. "No, but I have a friend who can." He chuckled at my confusion. "Oh, well I gotta go. Bye D." I said giving him a nickname. "Oh, see ya around Al." He stated smiling at the nickname and turning around to go to his friends, yet again. "He seems to be getting... closer." Ashley said while raising her eyebrows. "Oh, stop it. I'm not dating anyone for a while, remember Joey?" This made Ashley's smile go to a sad sympathetic smile. "Sorry." She apologized. "Yeah it's ok." I said opening my locker and shoving things into it. "Are you ready for the party?" She said in an excited tone. "No, we have to go shopping for clothes after school." I said in a panicked voice. "It's alright, Beverly offered to take us yesterday." Ashley mentioned. "She never told me." I said confused. 'Was it because of yesterday?' I thought to myself. "Earth to Al." Ashley snapped her fingers to alert me. "Oh sorry, what?" I asked finally coming back to reality. "We'll talk to her about it later ok? The bell just rang." She pointed out. "Oh I have to go to health." I stated. "Duh, me too." She laughed and we started walking. I put my arm over her shoulder and side hugged her. "You're an asshole, ash." I teased, which cause her to have a sarcastic hurt face. "Fuck you, Mrs. Albidone." She joked, which cause me to get a little uneasy. "I don't like him like that." I dropped my arm off her shoulder and stopped laughing. "Wait, Al I'll meet you in Health. I see Audrey." She ran off. 'I cannot fucking like Dante. I don't want to. Do I like him?' So many questions passed through my head, while I walked to health class. 'I see him in this class too.' I mentally groaned at my thoughts being so invested in him. "Hey, al." I heard a voice behind me call out. Him. He did the same thing he's always done. Softly grab my wrist, and charm me with those fucking eyes. 'Don't be that soft twink kind of bitch. He's just some boy and I'm 100% sure he doesn't like you back.' "Hey, D." I replied and he let go of my arm and smiled. "Wanna walk to Health together?" He exclaimed. "Sure." Just as I said that, the final bell rang. Meaning we were late and we'd be in trouble. "Oh shit, I can't have detention today. The party." He groaned. "Fuck." We both said.
