51. Getting Ready

Elizabeth’s POV

I have not talked to Harry these past few days. I do miss him but what he did was wrong. I mean wouldn’t any other girl react the same? Any other girl… I can’t imagine Harry with another girl, Anyways; I have other things that I need to worry about.  Today was the day that I had to sing the duet with Niall. Luckily, my ankle feels a whole lot better.

‘Everything is going to be fine” Eleanor said reassuringly to me as we climbed into her car. After school ended Eleanor and I have been in town looking for jobs. Thankfully, luck was on our side and a very nice woman that is in charge of a small diner hired us on the spot.

“Yea, I guess” I told her trying to give her the hint that I really didn’t want to talk about it. I buckled in and she speed off into the road.  

“Well do you want me to help you get ready?” she asked as she got on the freeway.

“Yes please” I paused and looked at her. “The more that I can distract myself, the better” I said with a nervous laugh.

She nodded at me. “I am so happy we found jobs! The best part is that we are going to work together!” she said excitedly.

“Eleanor I am happy too…but could you please focus on driving I don’t want to die” I teased motioning my hand to her. Eleanor rolled her eyes playfully at me. I turned to look out the window, watching the few drops of rain fall down the side of the window. 

“Hey, have you received your acceptance letter for Uni?” she asked taking me out of me reverie.  I turned to look at her and nodded.

“Yes I have. I just forgot to tell you with everything that has happened” I paused “I’m sorry” I added feeling a bit guilty for not telling her.

Eleanor turned to look at me with a small scowl on her face then focused her gaze back onto the road. “You’re sorry? Love it’s okay. I understand but do you know what this means?” she asked trailing her sentence.

“No” I murmured

“We get to go to Uni together!” she smiled and I shook my head at her. “ That means we get to be roommates!”

Eleanor drove to my house so she could help me get ready. I am super nervous because not just the whole class will be there but maybe the whole school including parents. Yes, it is part of our grade but our teacher decided to make it a showcase for the end of the year. 

“Alright, let’s get you ready” Eleanor said taking off her jacket placing it on my bed. I nodded and just let her Barbie me up.

While Eleanor was doing my hair, my phone buzzed against the dresser. Eleanor reached over to grab it and hand it to me while she went back on finishing her job.

“Thanks” I told her as I unlocked the screen to read the text message.

From: Mom

                Hey sweetheart, just texting you to let you know that your father and I will be arriving later tonight. Also, we wish you luck on your showcase tonight. I cannot wait to meet that lovely boy of yours!

My heart sunk when I read her last sentence.  Yes, I did tell my mom about Harry. I trust my mom and I really love both of my parents. Even though they are not always around I know that in the end all they want is the best for me.

To: Mom

                Okay, have a safe flight. Love you and I’ll see you when you get here

I pressed send and turned up the volume on my phone placing it back on my lap.  What am I going to tell my parents when they get here and they see that Harry isn’t with me?

“Who was that?” Eleanor asked tugging a piece of my hair and pinned it back.

“My mom, she says that they will be coming home tonight” I paused biting my lip looking at her through the mirror. “They also want to meet Harry”

As soon as I spoke the word her eyes meet mine. “Aww Ellie, it’ll be okay” she said giving me a nod. “I promise.” I smiled at her and nodded releasing a deep breath.
