"Happy, hurry! We have to tell them!"

Lucy cried while she started running. Happy came behind her and picked her up, hoping to shorten travel time.

"Get me to the gate!" Lucy said with a voice full of determination. Happy had dropped her off with Yukino and Princess Hisui.

"I know how to stop it! We have to destroy the gate!" She said before shoving the book into the girls faces.

"How do we know that the bo-" Yukino was cut off by a grumbling yell.

"You really think you can destroy the gate?" A bellowing voice laughed, making Lucy turn around. She made eye contact with the jade dragon from earlier.

"Lucy, stay away!" She heard Laxus warningly shout. She nodded to him before staring back at the dragon.

"It's nearly impossible! Not even we can destroy it! It's made of magic-resistant maginium!" He yelled, causing Lucy to become enraged.

"Come on Yukino, you know what we have to do!" Lucy turned to the shaken girl.

She didn't take what the dragon said seriously, she had to try.

Lucy didn't have much faith in herself, nor did she think that she had enough magic left. But Lucy felt the adrenaline rushing in her brain, she would power through.

"I-I don't think I can." She shook horribly, Lucy felt sympathy towards the frail girl, but this was no time to play the sorry game. They had a job that needed to be done, that fate of the world quite literally rested on their shoulders.

"Neither do I Yukino, but we have to try! Please, we can't give up when everyone else out there is giving everything they have! Push yourself just a little more, we don't have another option." Lucy pleaded, fear evident in her eyes. Yukino sighed, knowing that she had to listen to Lucy. If they didn't try, this whole ordeal may never end.

Yukino nodded, knowing she had to do this. She had no other choice. Yukino looked Lucy in the eye, and Lucy started to feel an overwhelming sense of guilt for forcing Yukino into this again. Her eyes were tired, and Lucy could see that they were loosing their shine. Lucy bit her lip, pushing her thoughts out of her head.

Magic started to swirl in the air, blowing everything around.

The sky started to look as if it was raining stars. The celestial beings all crashed into the gate, delivering each of their own most powerful attacks.

The ground shook, nearby buildings crumbling to the ground.

The dragon laughed at the pair, knowing that their efforts weren't going to work.

"Just one more push, I promise." Lucy softly pleaded, closing her eyes.

Their bodies crying in pain, both girls fearing the end of their power and possibly their lives.

And each girl was willing to give both.

"You're not gonna destroy the gate! You're too weak!" The jade dragon attacking Laxus laughed, effortlessly dodging Laxus's attacks.

Each spirit hit the gate like a bolder, but not making a scratch. Both girls screamed in agonizing pain, their efforts going in vein.

"Keep pushing!" Lucy screamed, tears freely flowing from her face, Yukino could barely manage a nod as she forced more power out of her small body.

The girls both stop simultaneously, realizing that their efforts are going no where, only putting the girls through excruciating pain.

Lucy watched through blurry eyes as the life she used to love was changing faster that she could keep up with.

The pit in her stomach kept growing as she saw the destruction.

The once lively town was nothing more than complete rubble.

Dust and ash filled the air, screams of agony could be heard from every direction.

Just as Lucy was starting to love life again, the rug was pulled from beneath her.

All of their hope is being lost.

Lucy feels like her world is ending.

There is no hope, the dragons are just too powerful.

Not even the slayers could defeat them.
